[The topical problems of pediatric balneotherapy and the spa and health resort-based treatment of the children].

This article is devoted to the topical problems of pediatric balneotherapy with special reference to the organization of the spa and health resort-based treatment of the children in the Russian Federation. The main issues discussed by the authors include the current state of health resort care for the children, the problem of statutory regulation of the activities of the children's spa and health resort facilities, the approaches to increasing the availability of the spa and health resort-based treatment for the children at the enhanced risk of the development of chronic diseases, disabilities, and tuberculosis. Also considered are the problems of the development of the regulatory framework for the medical rehabilitation of the children based at the spa and health resort facilities.

[Restoration of the complicated locomotor functions of the upper extremities in the patients surviving ischemic stroke].

During the late and residual periods of stroke, it is necessary to pay attention to the training of complex spatial movements along with the traditional restoration of the balance and strength of para-articular muscles and the mobility of the paretic limb joints. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of robotic therapy for the recovery of the functions of the upper extremities in the late and residual periods of stroke. The study involved 52 patients who had survived ischemic stroke in the middle cerebral artery.

[The depressive disorders during the early rehabilitation period following preceding ischemic stroke: the possibilities for the application of the enhanced external counterpulsation method].

The authors present arguments in favour of the necessity to reveal and treat the co-morbid conditions with special reference to depressive disorders in the patients during the early rehabilitation period following preceding ischemic stroke. They demonstrate the importance of the application of non-medicamentous therapy in combination with the standard medicamental treatment. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of the data obtained during evaluation of the effectiveness of combined therapy with the use of the enhanced external counterpulsation method in the early post-stroke period.

[The necessity of new approaches to the elaboration of the projects for the sanitary (mountainous sanitary) protection districts around the therapeutic and health-promotion facilities, health resorts and their natural medical resources].

The international experience gained during the past two centuries indicates that the most efficient and rational way to ensure the protection of the territories occupied by the therapeutic and health-promotion facilities, spa centres, and health resorts together with their natural medical resources is to set up sanitary (mountainous sanitary) protection districts or zones along the perimeter of these territories. Beginning from 2000, numerous changes and amendments have been annually introduced in the Russian legislation intended to ensure efficacious control over the rational exploitation of the territories of therapeutic and health-promotion value and their natural medical resources. These initiatives have negative effect on the activities of these organizations and the quality of the services they are expected to provide.

[The results of the combined application of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy and radon baths during the rehabilitative treatment of the patients presenting with gonarthrosis].

Aim: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the combined application of radon baths and shock-wave therapy in the patients suffering from knee OA.

Patients And Methods: The study involved 75 patients at the age of 35 to 62 years with the confirmed diagnosis of stage II and III gonarthrosis; they were divided into 3 groups.

[The peculiarities of the application of transcranial magnetic therapy and electrical stimulation for the treatment of the patients presenting with various types of stroke].

In this article, the results of the authors' research, including analysis of the clinical and instrumental data concerning 203 patients with, stroke are presented. It is shown that the clinical effectiveness of the transcranial methods incorporated in the combined rehabilitation programs depends on the type of stroke and localization of the lesions. Specifically, the patients presenting with ischemic stroke of hemispheric localization experienced a neurophysiologically confirmed significant clinical improvement that became apparent after the consistent application of transcranial magnetic therapy and micropolarization.

[The factors influencing the recovery of the patients suffering from stroke during the rehabilitation period].

In this article, the results of the authors' research, including analysis of the clinical and instrumental data concerning 203 patients with stroke, are presented. The factors significantly affecting the recovery of patients in the rehabilitation are determine, viz. the age, the presence of the chronic pain, the level of education, the nature of the pathological process in the brain (the stroke type), the localization of the lesion (hemispheric, stem), right/left-sided localization of the lesion, the width of the lesion, the volume of the lesion (the atrophic post-ischemic changes, the volume of hematoma), the presence of cerebral atrophy (the width of the third ventricle), the presence of leukoareosis, the presence and the severity of stenosis in the internal carotid artery, the operations on the main arteries in the medical history, the presence of focal lesions on the electroencephalogram, the presence of the perifocal brain edema, accompanied by a shift of midline structures in the acute phase of stroke, the incidence of the stroke.

[The medical rehabilitation of the children presenting with the hyperactive urinary bladder].

The present article is focused on the modern technologies for the medical rehabilitation of the children presenting with the hyperactive urinary bladder (UB) designed to promote the act of urination in the children at all levels of bladder innervation.

[The long-term results of the application of the combined rehabilitative treatment in the patients presenting with knee osteoarthrosis].

[The modern approaches to the prognostication of rehabilitation of the patients after stroke on an individual basis: a review of the literature and the results of original investigations].

This article was designed to analyze the results of the investigations with the purpose of elucidation of the prognostic factors relevant to the rehabilitation of the patients who survived after stroke. Special attention is given to the role of demographic (age and sex) factors and the data of the clinical, neurological, psychological, cognitive, and instrumental examination of the patients. The results of the original studies based on the treatment of 203 stroke patients are discussed in the context of modern concepts of the significance of the factors contributing to the recovery of the patients in the course of the post-stroke rehabilitation.

[Analysis of the cerebral mechanisms underlying rehabilitation of the patients after stroke].

The authors present the results of the comprehensive analysis of the principal cerebral mechanisms involved in the processes of rehabilitation of the patients after stroke based on the review of the literature concerning this issue. The data obtained in the course of original investigations including 203 patients who had undergone stroke confirm and refine the currently available information pertinent to the problem in question. First and foremost, they demonstrate the influence of the demographic, neurophysiological, and clinical factors as well as neuroimaging and ultrasound studies on the parameters of the evoked potentials in the brain of the stroke-affected patients.
