In this study, a novel synthesis approach was employed to create the KIT-6/TiO photocatalyst with different ratios of Si/Ti. The results of the X-ray diffraction revealed that incorporating TiO with the anatase phase maintained the mesoporous structure of KIT-6 (Korean Institute of Technology 6). The scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope images exhibited unobstructed mesopores, validating their anchoring within the internal structure of the support.

Background: The 3D printing of macro- and mesoporous biomimetic grafts composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) infused with nanosized synthetic smectic clay is a promising innovation in biomaterials for bone tissue engineering (BTE). The main challenge lies in achieving a uniform distribution of nanoceramics across low to high concentrations within the polymer matrix while preserving mechanical properties and biological performance essential for successful osseointegration.
Methods: This study utilized 3D printing to fabricate PCL scaffolds enriched with nanosized synthetic smectic clay (LAP) to evaluate its effects on structural, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and degradative properties, with a focus on in vitro biological performance and non-toxicity.

The decline in research for new antimicrobials, combined with the rise in bacterial resistance, has become a critical issue that is expected to worsen over time. As an alternative, health sciences have integrated materials engineering to develop new bioactive compounds through the interaction of nanoparticles with plant-derived compounds. These compounds offer advantages such as high bioavailability and low cost, exemplified by , a plant native to the Brazilian Cerrado.

Context: -Pinene, a bicyclic monoterpene found extensively in the essential oils of conifers, has shown potential in pharmacological applications. This study theoretically investigates the structural and electronic properties of the (1S)- - -pinene crystal, focusing on its potential for nanoelectronic applications due to the observed wide band gap. Structural analysis revealed that the crystal's unit cell contains 104 atoms with orthorhombic symmetry, and its lattice parameters show excellent agreement with experimental data.

Introduction: In Brazil, the emergence of feline sporotrichosis, a neglected subcutaneous mycosis primarily transmitted by cats and caused by the fungus Sporothrix brasiliensis, has been monitored via molecular tools. This approach underscores the geographic expansion of this disease and highlights the critical role of molecular surveillance in understanding its epidemiology and guiding public health interventions.
Methods: We investigated three domestic cats (Felis catus) with multiple skin lesions in Picos, Piauí, Brazil.

Background: The regional hypertrophy response of elbow flexor muscles was compared after unilateral elbow flexion training in extended versus flexed shoulder position under vascular occlusion, which can induce muscle hypertrophy in the absence of muscle damage-induced edema/swelling.
Hypothesis: Hypertrophy of elbow flexor muscles would be greater in extended compared with flexed shoulder position.
Study Design: Randomized within-subject trial.

The concentrations of heavy metals (HMs) can be increased by various anthropogenic activities such as mining, fuel combustion, pesticide use, and urban development, which can alter the mechanisms determining their spatial variability in the environment. Determining natural concentrations, monitoring, and assessing potential ecological risks are essential in the management of pollution prevention policies and soil conservation in watersheds. The aim of this study was to determine HMs natural concentrations, establish quality reference values (QRVs), and evaluate pollution indices in a watershed-scale.

Background: Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that predisposes patients to develop multiple cysts and tumors, such as hemangioblastomas (HBs) and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), due to mutations in the VHL tumor suppressor gene. While treatment of HBs varies based on their characteristics and has improved patient survival, it still involves high morbidity and mortality, leading to ongoing debates and studies to refine therapy strategies. Recent developments include the emergence of Belzutifan, a novel inhibitor targeting hypoxia-inducible factor 2α (HIF-2α), which has shown promising results in ongoing trials, particularly for patients not immediately requiring surgery.

Purpose: Recent studies have investigated if the sodium fluorescein-guided (SFg) improves the extent of resection of BMs when compared to standard white light (sWL). Therefore, we aimed to assess the comparative efficacy and safety of SFg and sWL for resection of BMs.
Methods: We searched Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases following Cochrane and PRISMA guidelines for studies reporting comparative data of SFg and WL resection of BMs.

3D printing is attractive for the direct repair of bone defects in underdeveloped countries and in emergency situations. So far, the lack of an interesting method to produce filament using FDA-approved biopolymers and nanoceramics combined with a portable strategy limits the use of in situ 3D printing. Herein, we investigated the osseointegration of new nanocomposite filaments based on polylactic acid (PLA), laponite (Lap), and hydroxyapatite (Hap) printed directly at the site of the bone defect in rats using a portable 3D printer.

Gypsum plays a prominent role in agriculture, being considered an effective alternative to alleviate subsurface acidity due to its higher solubility and containing sulfur. However, another significant aspect is which pose long-term risks of groundwater contamination due to excessive applications of salts, pesticides, and other chemicals that will be leached, or even soil chemical depletion. So far, no study has focused on understanding the impacts of the atmospheric gypsum plume originating from gibbsite mining and processing on the leaching of soil bases and chemical degradation surrounding these sites.

Context: Bismuth complexes with dithiocarbamate ligands have attracted attention because of their biological applications, such as antimicrobial, antileishmanial, and anticancer properties. These complexes have high cytotoxic activity against cancer cells, being more active than the standard drugs cisplatin, doxorubicin, and tamoxifen. In the present study, we investigated the ability of some DFT methods to reproduce the geometries and NMR spectra of the Bi(III) dithiocarbamate complexes, selected based on their proven antitumor activity.
