In order to study the heat transfer of R410A in extreme environments, the properties of several stainless steel and copper-enhanced tubes were evaluated using R410A as the working fluid, and the results were compared with those of smooth tubes. Tubes evaluated include: smooth, herringbone (EHT-HB) and helix (EHT-HX) microgroove, herringbone/dimple (EHT-HB/D); herringbone/hydrophobic (EHT-HB/HY); and composite enhancement 1EHT (three-dimensional). Experimental conditions include a saturation temperature of 318.

Adolescent depression is a worldwide public health concern and has contributed to significant socioeconomic burden. Investigating the association between time spent on social media (TSSM) and depression may provide guidance toward the prevention and intervention of adolescent depression. However, related literature reported mixed findings in terms of the relationship between TSSM and depression in adolescents.

An innovative method of synthesis is reported for the large and diverse (RE)(TM) (Tt)S (RE = rare-earth, TM = transition metals, Tt = Si, Ge, and Sn) family of compounds (∼1000 members, ∼325 contain Si), crystallizing in the noncentrosymmetric, chiral, and polar 6 space group. Traditional synthesis of such phases involves the annealing of elements or binary sulfides at elevated temperatures. The atomic mixing of refractory components technique, presented here, allows the synthesis of known members and vastly expands the family to nearly the entire transition metal block, including 3d, 4d, and 5d TMs with oxidation states ranging from 1+ to 4+.

The purpose of this study was to examine the hypothesis that child sex moderates the association between prenatal cocaine exposure (PCE) and autonomic functioning as well as to examine the role that caregiving environmental risk played in sex differences in autonomic functioning among exposed children. Measures of the parasympathetic nervous system (indexed by respiratory sinus arrhythmia [RSA]) and the sympathetic nervous system (indexed by skin conductance level [SCL]) were obtained from 146 (75 cocaine-exposed, 38 male; and 71 nonexposed, 36 male) children during baseline and a task designed to elicit negative affect (NA). We also examined the role of caregiving environmental risk as a moderator of the association between PCE and autonomic functioning separately for boys and girls.

Background: There were amounts of previous studies on chronic diseases, but few studies on the prevalence of chronic disease and the healthy lifestyle intervention in recent years, China. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of chronic disease and the implementation of healthy lifestyle intervention in rural areas of China, so as to put forward health promotion measures to control the chronic diseases effectively.
Method: A large cross-sectional study (N = 2168) on community diagnosis and chronic disease was carried out in Shandong province, China.

Variation in life-history strategies can affect metapopulation dynamics and consequently the composition and diversity of communities. However, data sets that allow for the full range of species turnover from colonization to extinction over relevant time periods are limited. The late Quaternary record provides unique opportunities to explore the traits that may have influenced interspecific variation in responses to past climate warming, in particular the rate at which species colonized newly suitable habitat or went locally extinct from degrading habitat.

X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been used to characterize the silver mercury amalgam particles resting on the surface that comprise the image of five daguerreotype plates that were not gilded and that were prepared by three different contemporary daguerreotype makers. The regions of interest of the surface that were examined were overexposed, solarized, and highlight (white) areas. The XRD portion of the study shows that the two main silver mercury amalgam particles identified using the International Center for Diffraction Data PF4 + database were the Schachnerite/ζ (zeta) phase amalgam, Ag1.

Increasing water intake is often purported to reduce energy intake, and is recommended as a weight loss strategy. The few experimental studies that have been conducted to verify these claims have examined the impact of a single pre-load of water before a meal. Although correlational data indicate a relationship between hydration, energy intake, and weight status, there is very little experimental research in this area.

The RVD is a regulatory function of cells that maintains cell volume homeostasis in a hypotonic medium. Single Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells grown in the microwells were loaded with a volume-sensitive fluorescence dye.
