We sought to conduct a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis of post-operative outcomes following TKA with an all-polyethylene tibial (APT) or a metal-backed tibial component (MBT). A systematic review of the literature was conducted to identify all studies comparing APT and MBT for TKA based upon rates of complications, revisions, reoperation, and patient-reported outcomes. Data was pooled and relative risk of each outcome measure at short (< 5 year), mid (5-10 year), and long (> 10 year) follow-up was calculated.

A large portion of the global population lacks access to essential surgical care, despite surgical conditions contributing significantly to the overall burden of disease worldwide. This burden is heaviest in developing countries like Nepal, where disparities in access to surgery for neurosurgical disorders stem from health system failures including an inadequate neurosurgical workforce, lack of requisite neurosurgical equipment, and challenges in perioperative care. By bibliometric analysis of neurosurgery-related publications in Nepal through PubMed search using the search terms "Neurosurg* AND Nepal", we have found a total of 528 articles with a notable increase in the number of such publications from 14 to 25 between 2015 and 2016, with over 300 published in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Endocarditis is a serious diagnostic entity that carries a high rate of morbidity and mortality, with complications including heart failure, septic embolization, brain abscesses, and stroke. Blood culture-negative endocarditis (BCNE) represents a particularly challenging clinical scenario where the causative organism is undetectable, either due to being difficult to culture or due to the empiric administration of antimicrobial agents. Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is an angioproliferative disorder caused by human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection. KS manifests as vascular and mucosal nodules and is classified into four subtypes based on epidemiology, clinical presentation, histopathology, and HHV-8/human immunodeficiency virus serology.
