View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Hirschsprung disease, a developmental disorder affecting the neuronal ganglion cells in distal colon, is the leading cause of intestinal obstruction in newborns, predominantly males, although the diagnosis can be made lately in rare cases. We describe an adult Hirschsprung disease case found intraoperatively.
Case Description: He is a 20-year-old male patient with past medical history of epilepsy, psychomotor delay and recently a perineal perforating injury, admitted in the emergency room with initial diagnosis of peritonitis by perforated viscus with Frankel grad B spinal cord injury.

Abdominal gunshot trauma is the third leading cause of death and is responsible for more than 90% of deaths among people ages 15 to 24 years old. It can cause multi-system organ damage, shock, and infection. We present a case of a through-and-through abdominal bullet wound where laparotomy exploration has found nothing as damage inside the abdomen.

Objective: Frasier syndrome is a rare genetic nephropathy characterized by the presence of progressive glomerulopathy with proteinuria associated with male pseudo hermaphroditism. This case study described a picture of a young boy where the clinical suspicion context reminded the Frasier syndrome. To our knowledge, this case is the first described in Haiti.

Introduction: Generalized secondary peritonitis is one of the most common emergencies encountered in surgical departments with a mortality of up to 20%. While early prognostic assessment of peritonitis is essential for the objective classification of the severity of the disease, the late presentation of the majority of patients to health facilities affects this situation, further complicating effective management and promoting the occurrence of complications. In Haiti, few studies on surgical pathologies are available, and with regard to peritonitis, only two thesis works have been listed on the subject.
