In vaccines produced in eukaryote cells as well as in commercial medical preparations of leukocyte interferon a number of cytokines such as IL-1beta, IL-6 and TNF-alpha have been detected. Among the vaccines examined in this study the highest level of IL-1beta was demonstrated in inactivated hepatitis A vaccine prepared in the green monkey kidney cell line 4647, that of IL-6 in inactivated rabies vaccine produced in Syrian hamster kidney (SHK) cell culture, and that of TNF-alpha in live poliomyelitis vaccine manufactured in VERO cells. A spontaneous and poliovirus-induced capacity of cell cultures to produce cytokines was detected.

The comparative evaluation of the diagnostic value of new cholera eltor bacteriophages ctx+ and ctx-, as well as monophages X[symbol: see text]-3, 4, 5, demonstrated their high activity and specificity. Using of these bacteriophages epidemic potential of 95% Vibrio cholerae eltor strains ctx+ and 84.5% of V.

The word deals with the results obtained in the study of the reactogenicity and immunological activity of concentrated and inactivated tissue-culture tick-borne encephalitis vaccine, manufactured by the Chumakov Institute of Poliomyelitis and Viral Encephalitides, in the immunization of children and adolescents. The vaccine proved to be moderately reactogenic and exhibited pronounced immunological activity. In 91.

The method for checking the results of measurements of the analyzed substance and the calibrator for parallelism the immunological testing kit ABICAP-test-DIPHTHERIA, produced by ABION (Germany), is described. The international standard sample of diphtheria antitoxin human serum was used as calibrator, and human serum No. 18, obtained from the Biomed Group (Russia), was used as the substance to be analyzed.

The results of the field trials of the vaccine "Act-Hib" against Haemophilus influenzae of type b, presented for registration by Pasteur Mérieux Connaught (France), are summarized. The vaccine was found to have low reactogenicity and high immunological effectiveness. A single injection of the vaccine induced the formation of the protective level of anti-PRP antibodies in 94% of the immunized children aged 1-4 years.

Influenza polymer-subunit vaccine "Grippol", made up of the sterile conjugate of surface proteins of influenza viruses, groups A and B, with polyoxidonium (copolymer), was obtained at the State Scientific Centre of Research Institute of Immunology. As the result of our investigations, the coefficient of prophylactic effectiveness of vaccine "Grippol" was found to be 71%; in the presence of the 50% immune stratum in the group the coefficient of antiepidemic protection was found to be 66.4%.

To evaluate a kit for the enzyme immunoassay (ELISA), the metrological approach was used: the total error of the method for the quantitative determination of antibodies, regarded as a multistage process, was determined as the result of the accumulation of errors made in measurements at different stages. The proposed algorithm made it possible to attest the positive control serum, to determine the total error of measurements, to mark a linear section in a limited range of values on a graduation diagram. This led to obtaining well-grounded results, comparable with the results of the reaction of neutralization at good correlation (lc = 0.

A diagnostic kit for the determination of IgG antibodies to diphtheria toxin ("Abion", Germany) the use of analytical columns "Abicap" was studied in the specialized laboratory of the Tarasevich State Control Institute with a view to determine the possibility of its official registration in the Russian Federation. The kit was evaluated by the following criteria: the correspondence of the specified properties of the preparation to those actually observed; meeting the norms stated in the documents supplied with the kit and WHO requirements; the presence of advantages in comparison with the enzyme immunoassay. In the course of the trial positive results were obtained on all these points.

The influence of unbound haemagglutinin on the immunogenicity of whole virus inactivated influenza vaccine is discussed. In addition, the use of single radial diffusion for the assessment of unbound haemagglutinin is suggested.
