Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is a major driver of premature mortality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Detection of RA-ILD is crucial but requires awareness among the treating physicians. To date, however, there is no international recommendation concerning screening for ILD in RA patients.

The data presented in this article relate to the research article, "Reliability of mechanical ventilation during continuous chest compressions: a crossover study of transport ventilators in a human cadaver model of CPR" [1]. This article contains raw data of continuous recordings of airflow, airway and esophageal pressure during the whole experiment. Data of mechanical ventilation was obtained under ongoing chest compressions and from repetitive measurements of pressure-volume curves.

Risk prediction is an essential part of clinical care, in order to allocate resources and provide care appropriately. During the COVID-19 pandemic risk prediction became a matter of political and public debate as a major clinical need to guide medical and organizational decisions. We previously presented a simplified risk stratification score based on a nomogram developed in Wuhan, China in the early phase of the pandemic.

Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is a biomarker of cardiovascular risk and may enhance the progression of atherosclerosis. The aim of the study was to determine whether there are sex-specific differences in TMAO concentrations before and after cardiac rehabilitation in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients. A total of 56 participants [45/56 (80.

Background: Previous studies have stated that hyperventilation often occurs in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) mainly due to excessive ventilation frequencies, especially when a manual valve bag is used. Transport ventilators may provide mandatory ventilation with predetermined tidal volumes and without the risk of hyperventilation. Nonetheless, interactions between chest compressions and ventilations are likely to occur.

: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a frequently observed stress-related disorder after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and it is characterized by numerous symptoms, such as flashbacks, intrusions and anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts and feelings related to the trauma. Biological correlates of severe stress might contribute to identifying PTSD-vulnerable patients at an early stage. : Aims of the study were (1) to determine whether blood levels of trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) vary immediately after AMI in patients with/without AMI-induced PTSD symptomatology, (2) to investigate whether TMAO is a potential biomarker that might be useful in the prediction of PTSD and the PTSD symptom subclusters re-experiencing, avoidance and hyperarousal, and (3) to investigate whether TMAO varies immediately after AMI in patients with/without depression 6 months after AMI.

Background: Many geriatric psychiatry patients suffer from complex psychiatric and medical problems and a minority of patients dies in-hospital. We assess whether a frailty index (FI) predicts inpatient mortality.
Methods: Electronic health records from 276 patients of a geriatric psychiatry department over 3 years (2015-2017) in Austria were analysed using logistic regression analysis.

Basophilia of the peripheral blood (PBB) has rarely been described in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). This study aimed to determine the frequency of PBB in patients with UC and to examine a potential correlation of PBB with markers of inflammation. We compared retrospectively the basophil counts and the occurrence of basophilia (>200 basophils/µL) between 165 patients with UC and 35 controls, and analysed the correlation between the basophil count and the C-reactive protein (CRP).
