Purpose: We present results of a retrospective population-based investigation of patterns of care and outcome of glioblastoma patients in Austria.
Patients And Methods: In this nation-wide cooperative project, all Austrian glioblastoma patients newly diagnosed between 2014 and 2018 and registered in the ABTR-SANOnet database were included. Histological typing used criteria of the WHO classification of CNS tumors, 4th edition 2016.

Systemic mastocytosis (SM) is defined by the expansion and accumulation of neoplastic mast cells (MCs) in the bone marrow (BM) and extracutaneous organs. Most patients harbor a somatic KIT D816V mutation, which leads to growth factor-independent KIT activation and accumulation of MC. Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF) is a proapoptotic and inflammatory cytokine that has been implicated in the clonal selection of neoplastic cells.

Background: The prognostic roles of clinical and laboratory markers have been exploited to model risk in patients with primary CNS lymphoma, but these approaches do not fully explain the observed variation in outcome. To date, neuroimaging or molecular information is not used. The aim of this study was to determine the utility of radiomic features to capture clinically relevant phenotypes, and to link those to molecular profiles for enhanced risk stratification.

Purpose: The aim of this consensus project was to create a treatment algorithm for the management of the ACL-injured patient which can serve as an aid in a shared decision-making process.
Methods: For this consensus process, a steering and a rating group were formed. In an initial face-to-face meeting, the steering group, together with the expert group, formed various key topic complexes for which various questions were formulated.

While we might leave the COVID-19 pandemic behind, future health professionals are still confronted with another global phenomenon: the increasing pandemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Both issues are strongly interwoven, yet current medical education fails to address their syndemic nature accordingly. There is scientific consensus that (i) most emerging infectious diseases are zoonotic, (ii) the overexploitation of earth's resources for animal protein production (i.

Aim: To conduct a systemic review of published data on reference values for both transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound in gynecology.
Materials And Methods: Literature from 1970 to 2020 of reference values for the female pelvis in healthy subjects was reviewed. According to the determination of reference intervals for laboratory values reference values are generally determined using 95%-reference intervals and their associated 90%-confidence intervals.

(1) Objective: To investigate changes in mortality rates and predictors of all-cause mortality as well as specific causes of death over time among HIV-positive individuals in the combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) era. (2) Methods: We analyzed all-cause as well as cause-specific mortality among the Austrian HIV Cohort Study between 1997 and 2014. Observation time was divided into five periods: Period 1: 1997-2000; period 2: 2001-2004; period 3: 2005-2008; period 4: 2009-2011; and period 5: 2012-2014.

Background: Cases of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (AstraZeneca) vaccinated patients with thrombocytopenia, elevated D-dimer, and elevated platelet factor 4 (PF4) antibody levels with- and without thrombosis have been reported. No recommendations regarding the duration of anticoagulation have been made, because data on the long-term course beyond the first weeks is lacking.
Objective: To report on the treatment, medical course, and longitudinal follow-up of laboratory parameters in patients with vaccine-induced prothrombotic immune thrombocytopenia (VIPIT).

Introduction: Chronic pelvic pain of unknown origin (CPPU) affects the quality of life (QoL) of up to 20% of women. The 2005 Cochrane Review, based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs), stated that the pathogenesis of CPPU is poorly understood and its treatment is empirical and ineffective. Totally ignored were the high cure rates from uterosacral ligament (USL) repair, the principal subject of this review.

Primary CNS lymphoma is a highly aggressive and rare type of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Although, new therapeutic approaches have led to improved survival, the management of the disease poses a challenge, practice patterns vary across institutions and countries, and remain ill-defined for vulnerable patient subgroups. Using information from the Austrian Brain Tumor Registry we followed a population-based cohort of 189 patients newly diagnosed from 2005 to 2010 through various lines of treatment until death or last follow-up (12-31-2016).

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of intravitreal ocriplasmin for the resolution of vitreomacular traction (VMT) with or without a full thickness macular hole (FTMH) in the clinical setting and to assess whether the indication spectrum of this treatment modality can be expanded beyond that of the MIVI-TRUST trials.
Methods: The records of patients with VMT with or without FTMH, who were treated with intravitreal ocriplasmin were reviewed. Patients were divided in two groups.

Endoscopy is an integral part of surgical gynaecology and is playing an increasingly important role in ensuring adequate gynaecological training in the context of specialty training in general. At present, little is known about the expectations and notions of young junior doctors with respect to endoscopic training. For this reason, junior doctors throughout Germany were surveyed on this topic and asked to share their opinions.

A wide array of infectious diseases can occur in pregnancy. Their acquisition, clinical presentation, and course during gestation may be altered due to an impairment of the maternal cellular immunity. Some infectious diseases can lead to serious consequences for the mother or the offspring, including congenital malformations.

To assess the effect of intravitreal dexamethasone implant (Ozurdex) for the treatment of macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) resistant to repeated intravitreal ranibizumab injection. Retrospective review of 11 patients (11 eyes) with ranibizumab-resistant macular edema secondary to RVO. Macular edema was considered refractory to ranibizumab if no change of the pattern of macular fluid on optical coherence tomography and no change of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was observed after at least three consecutive monthly injections, excluding the loading dose.

To compare the anatomical and visual outcomes of 20 gauge (g) pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with indocyanine green (ICG)-assisted internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling and 23 g PPV with brilliant blue G (BBG)-assisted ILM peeling for idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM). 38 eyes of 38 patients with idiopathic ERM were included. They were divided in two groups: group 1 (18 eyes) underwent 20 g PPV with ICG-assisted ILM peeling and group 2 (20 eyes) 23 g PPV with BBG-assisted ILM peeling.

Background: Targeted therapy options in HER2-negative breast cancer are limited. This open-label, multicenter phase IB dose-escalation trial was conducted to determine safety, tolerability, and antitumor activity of a combination of docetaxel (Taxotere) and increasing doses of adecatumumab, a human IgG1 antibody targeting epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), in EpCAM-positive relapsed or primary refractory advanced-stage breast cancer.
Patients And Methods: Patients pretreated with up to four prior chemotherapy regimens received increasing adecatumumab doses either every 3 weeks (q3w) or weekly (qw) combined with docetaxel (100 mg/m(2) q3w).
