This study investigates the electrochemical degradation mechanisms of nickel-salen (NiSalen) polymers, with a focus on improving the material's stability in supercapacitor applications. We analyzed the effects of steric hindrance near the nickel center by incorporating different bulky substituents into NiSalen complexes, aiming to mitigate water-induced degradation. Electrochemical performance was assessed using cyclic voltammetry, operando conductance, and impedance measurements, while X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) provided insights into molecular degradation pathways.

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) have emerged as versatile, sustainable media for the synthesis of nanomaterials due to their low toxicity, tunability, and biocompatibility. This study develops a one-step method to modify commercially available screen-printed electrodes (SPE) using laser-induced pyrolysis of DES, consisting of choline chloride and tartaric acid with dissolved nickel acetate and dispersed graphene. The electrodes were patterned using a 532 nm continuous-wave laser for the in situ formation of Ni nanoparticles decorated on graphene sheets directly on the SPE surface (Ni-G/SPE).

In (Opisthokonta, Aphelida) zoospores, the expression of 7708 genes out of 7802 described genes was detected. For 589 of them, expression levels were shown to be more than 10 times higher than the median level. Among the highly expressed genes with known functions, the largest functional categories were "Cellular Metabolism", "Protein Synthesis", "Cell State Control", and "Nucleic Acid Processing".

A series of cyclometalated Au(III) complexes [Au(C^N^C)(C-L-P(O)Ph)] with C^N^C = 2,6-diphenylpyridine and alkynylphosphine oxide ligands (L = no linker, Au1; phenyl, Au2; biphenyl, Au3; naphthyl, Au4; anthracenyl, Au5) were synthesized and fully characterized by spectroscopic methods and single crystal XRD analysis. The complexes obtained exhibit triplet (Au1-Au3) and dual (Au4, Au5) emissions in solution, in the solid phase and in the PMMA film, whose characteristics depend on the linker's nature of the alkynylphosphine oxide ligand. The description of electronic transitions responsible for energy absorption and emission in Au(III) complexes was made on the basis of a detailed analysis of the results of DFT calculations and has shown to involve ILCT, LLCT and MLCT transitions of singlet and triplet nature.

Telomerase enzyme prevents telomere shortening during division, having human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) as its catalytic subunit. Favipiravir (FAV), an RNA-dependent RNA polymerases inhibitor, shared structural similarity with hTERT and thus assumed to have cytotoxic effect on cancer cells, in addition to its prophylactic effect to immunocompromised cancer patients. Nanoemulsion (NE) is a potential tumor cells targeting delivery system, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy at the intended site, mitigating systemic toxicity, and overcoming multidrug resistance.

The functional state of the placenta and extraplacental membranes, determined by their morphological characteristics, is of key importance in the implementation of both physiological and complicated pregnancy. Of great practical value for the diagnosis of congenital infections is the morphological study of the placenta, extraplacental membranes and umbilical cord, which allows optimizing the supervision of newborns and preventing the development of severe perinatal complications. This article presents methodological approaches to the morphological study of the placenta, extraplacental membranes and umbilical cord in infectious pathologies of both bacterial (ascending intraamniotic infection) etiology and viral placentitis caused by parvovirus, human immunodeficiency virus, respiratory syncytial virus, viruses of the Herpesviridae family - herpes simplex viruses types 1 and 2, cytomegalovirus and Epstein - Barr virus) and SARS-CoV-2 with a description of the morphological features of typical changes and immunohistochemical verification of their etiology.

The complexes obtained exhibit triplet emission in solution, and the characteristics inside the series depend on the nature of the alkynylphosphonium ligand. This study reports for the first time the phenomenon of supramolecular solvent formation based on alkyl polyglucoside as an amphiphile and primary alcohol as a coacervation agent. The physical properties (density, kinematic viscosity, phase diagram for ternary system) of the supramolecular solvent were investigated, and a mechanism for its formation was proposed. A green and simple microextraction procedure for preconcentration and determination of phthalates in baby foods packaged in plastic packaging was developed as proof-of-concept example.

The pH varies in different tissues and organelles and also changes during some diseases. A series of D-π-A alkynylphosphonium salts with different linker between donor and acceptor groups was used to synthesize two series of trans-bis-alkynylphosphonium Pt(II) complexes with different ancillary ligands (triphenylphosphine, P series, and cyanide, CN series). The nature of the ancillary ligand manages the overall charge and emission properties of the complexes obtained. In addition, the variation of the linker in alkynylphosphonium ligands allows fine-tuning the luminescence wavelength.

Pursuing of straightforward and cost-effective methods for synthesizing high-performance anode materials for lithium-ion batteries is a topic of significant interest. This study elucidates a one-step synthesis approach for a conversion composite using glow discharge in a nickel formate solution, yielding a composite precursor comprising metallic nickel, nickel hydroxide, and basic nickel salts. Subsequent annealing of the precursor facilitated the formation of the Ni@NiO composite, exhibiting exceptional electrochemical properties as anode material in Li-ion batteries: a capacity of approximately 1000 mAh g, cyclic stability exceeding 100 cycles, and favorable rate performance (200 mAh g at 10 A g).

Pteridines are important low molecular weight biomarkers used in the diagnostics of inflammation, oxidative stress, phenylketonuria, cancer, In this experimental study, we present a simple and selective approach to determine pteridines (pterin, leucopterin and folic acid) and nucleobase guanine concentration using luminescent gold clusters stabilized by aromatic amino acids. We synthesized several new gold clusters (AA-Au NCs) stabilized by various aromatic amino acids - 3,4-dihydroxy-L-phenylalanine (DOPA), L-tryptophan (Trp), L-tyrosine (Tyr) and L-phenylalanine (Phe), emitting in the violet-green spectral range. Their luminescence appeared to be sensitive to the presence of pterin, leucopterin, folic acid and guanine depending on the stabilizing matrix.

This work presents for the first time the possibility of reducing and tuning the work function of field emission cathodes coated with metal oxides by changing the chemical composition of oxide coatings using an example of heat-treated CNT/NiO nanocomposite structures. These cathodes are formulated using carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays that are coated with ultrathin layers of nickel oxide (CNT/NiO) by atomic layer deposition (ALD). It was found that NiO at thicknesses of several nanometers grown on CNTs heat treated at a temperature of 350 °C can change its stoichiometric composition towards the formation of oxygen vacancies, since the Ni/Ni peak area ratio increases and the position of the Ni-O peak binding energies shifts as observed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

A phylogenetic analysis of transcription factors of the Sox-Tcf/Lef-Mata (STM) family of the HMG-B superfamily was carried out in order to clarify the evolutionary roots of the Wnt signaling pathway in unicellular organisms. The data set for analysis included protein sequences of metazoans, fungi, unicellular opisthokonts, apusomonads and amoebozoans. The topology of the phylogenetic tree suggests that STM-related proteins arose in the common ancestor of Opisthokonta and Amoebozoa, two of amoebozoan STM proteins are sister-related to opisthokont ones and the three known lineages of STM transcription factors (STM family in narrow sence) are found in Opisthokonta only.
