Evaluation of Stress Distribution and Force in External Hexagonal Implant: A 3-D Finite Element Analysis.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

September 2021

Department of Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics Division, College of Dentistry, Jouf University, Sakaka 72341, Saudi Arabia.

Purpose: To analyze the stress distribution and the direction of force in external hexagonal implant with crown in three different angulations.

Materials And Methods: A total of 60 samples of geometric models were used to analyze von Mises stress and direction of force with 0-, 5-, and 10-degree lingual tilt. Von Mises stress and force distribution were evaluated at nodes of hard bone, and finite element analysis was performed using ANSYS 12.

Aim: This study aimed to demonstrate and evaluate the expression of stromal myofibroblasts (MFs) and epithelial cell proliferation using α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and Ki67 markers, respectively, in odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) and orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC) to correlate their aggressive behavior.

Materials And Methods: Twenty cases of OKC and twenty cases of OOC were stained with α-SMA and Ki67 markers for demonstration of stromal MFs and epithelial cell proliferation, respectively, and ten cases of well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma were used as positive control. Assessment of the number of α-SMA-positive stromal cells and Ki67-positive epithelial cells determined by MFs and proliferative epithelial cell frequency in 10 high-power fields (×400) was presented as the mean number of positive cells per field.

Background: Forensic odontology plays important role in identification of human remains in mass disasters such as air crash, tsunami, and accidents. Palatal rugae act as an ideal requisite for human identification as they are present in all victims and are resistant to changes such as aging and trauma. The study aimed to analyze differences in shape and number of palatal rugae in population from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.

Background: Erosion is a common condition which manifests due to consumption of high caloric and low pH acidic food stuffs such as carbonated drinks and fruit juices which cause irreversible damage to dental hard tissues and early deterioration of the dental restorations.

Aim: The main aim of this study is to evaluate and to compare the erosive potential of carbonated drink (cola) and fruit juice (orange fruit juice) by measuring the surface roughness (Ra) values on two commonly used dental restorative materials.

Materials And Methods: A total of 36 specimens each were prepared using both testing materials, compomer (Group I) and giomer (Group II).

Soft denture liners act as a cushion for the denture bearing mucosa through even distribution of functional load, avoiding local stress concentrations and improving retention of dentures there by providing comfort to the patient. The objective of the present study was to compare and evaluate the tensile bond strengths of silicone-based soft lining materials (Ufi Gel P and GC Reline soft) with different surface pre treatments of heat cure PMMA denture base acrylic resin. Stainless steel dies measuring 40 mm in length; 10 mm in width and 10 mm in height (40 × 10 × 10) were machined to prepare standardized for the polymethyl methacrylate resin blocks.
