Background: Cerebral ischemia secondary to occlusion or vasospasm of adjacent large vessels is a rare but significant complication of pituitary apoplexy. Misdiagnosis can lead to delays in management and devastating neurological outcomes. This case is the first reported instance of an initial presentation with transient cerebral ischemic symptoms, in addition to a classic pituitary apoplexy syndrome, for this clinical entity of pituitary apoplexy with adjacent large vessel occlusion.

The Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) previously issued a recommendation endorsing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for treating diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (DMPM). However, broader acceptance of this approach, particularly within some segments of medical oncology, remains limited. To address this, PSOGI initiated a multisociety consensus effort, involving multidisciplinary International Societies, to strengthen and expand the endorsement of CRS-HIPEC for DMPM.

Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a critical cytokine with substantial regulatory effects on hematopoiesis. Recent research highlights the essential role of PDGF in the modulation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), megakaryocytes/platelets, and thrombopoietin (TPO) synthesis within the bone marrow microenvironment. PDGF directly stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of HSPCs while also inhibiting apoptosis.

Musculoskeletal symptoms in hypothyroidism are often vague and non-specific, but in rare cases, rhabdomyolysis may develop as a serious complication. Here, we report a case of a 25-year-old man with a known history of Hashimoto's thyroiditis who presented with symptoms of rhabdomyolysis complicated by renal impairment secondary to severe overt hypothyroidism in the context of medication non-compliance. He presented with symptoms of generalised myalgia and fatigue.

Background: Bloodstream infections are associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Early, appropriate antibiotic therapy is important, but the duration of treatment is uncertain.
Methods: In a multicenter, noninferiority trial, we randomly assigned hospitalized patients (including patients in the intensive care unit [ICU]) who had bloodstream infection to receive antibiotic treatment for 7 days or 14 days.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Previous work has suggested that refractory detrusor overactivity (DO) was commonly associated with urinary tract infection (UTI), which can lead to inflammatory changes in the bladder. This study aimed to investigate the concentrations of urinary cytokines in a large sample of women with refractory detrusor overactivity (DO) and age matched controls.
Methods: The urinary concentration of 27 cytokines in 140 women (95 with refractory DO and 45 age matched controls (women without urge incontinence)) was determined using the Human Cytokine 27-plex Assay.

Methods: We recruited 126 behavioural variant FTD (bvFTD), 40 progressive nonfluent aphasia (PNFA), 64 semantic dementia (SD), 45 logopenic progressive aphasia (LPA), and 115 AD patients. Functional capacity was measured annually over ∼7 years using the Disability Assessment for Dementia.

Objectives: Urinary symptoms of urgency, frequency, and pain are thought to be the result of inflammation in several bladder pathologies although the cause of these symptoms remains uncertain. Extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) released from the bladder urothelium during normal bladder stretch is believed to bind to purinergic receptors on afferent nerves to signal bladder sensation. This study examined pro-inflammatory cytokines in the urine of women with detrusor overactivity (DO) with or without urinary tract infection (UTI) compared to controls and then determined the effect of pro-inflammatory cytokines on ATP signaling (release and breakdown) from the urothelium.
