Herein, we describe an air- and moisture-stable, homogeneous zinc catalyst stabilised using an electron deficient N^N^N pincer-type ligand. This ternary, penta-coordinated neutral molecular catalyst [Zn(N^N^N)Cl] selectively produces α-alkylated ketone derivatives (14 examples) through a one-pot acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling (ADC) reaction between secondary and primary alcohols using the borrowing hydrogen (BH) approach in good to excellent isolated yields (up to 93%). It is worth noting that this catalyst also provides an eco-friendly route for the synthesis of quinoline derivatives (30 examples) using 2-aminobenzyl alcohols as alkylating agents successive dehydrogenative coupling and N-annulation reactions.

Novel antifungal drugs are urgently needed to treat candidiasis caused by the emerging fungal multidrug-resistant pathogen . In this study, the most cost-effective drug repurposing technology was adopted to identify an appropriate option among the 1615 clinically approved drugs with anti- activity. High-throughput virtual screening of 1,3-beta-glucanosyltransferase inhibitors was conducted, followed by an analysis of the stability of 1,3-beta-glucanosyltransferase drug complexes and 1,3-beta-glucanosyltransferase-dutasteride metabolite interactions and the confirmation of their activity in biofilm formation and planktonic growth.

Introduction: Biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), an unparalleled metabolic novelty among living microorganisms on earth, globally contributes ~88-101 Tg N year to natural ecosystems, ~56% sourced from symbiotic BNF while ~22-45% derived from free-living nitrogen fixers (FLNF). The success of symbiotic BNF is largely dependent on its interaction with host-plant, however ubiquitous environmental heterotrophic FLNFs face many limitations in their immediate ecological niches to sustain unhindered BNF. Shigella species are a group of highly transmissible Gram-negative pathogens. Increasing reports of infection with extensively drug-resistant varieties of this stomach bug has convinced the World Health Organization to prioritize Shigella for novel therapeutic interventions.
