The self-consistent field Poisson-Boltzmann framework is applied to analyze equilibrium partitioning of ampholytic nanoparticles (NPs) between buffer solution and polyelectrolyte (PE) polyanionic brush. We demonstrate that depending on pH and salt concentration in the buffer solution, interactions between ionizable (acidic and basic) groups on the NP surface and electrostatic field created by PE brush may either lead to the spontaneous uptake of NPs or create an electrostatic potential barrier, preventing the penetration of NPs inside PE brush. The capability of PE brush to absorb or repel NPs is determined by the shape of the insertion free energy that is calculated as a function of NP distance from the grafting surface.

Senexin B, a non-toxic selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent protein kinases 8 and 19 (CDK8 and CDK19), in combination with γ-photon irradiation in doses of 2-10 Gy increased the death of colon adenocarcinoma cell line HCT116 (intact p53) in a logarithmically growing culture, which was accompanied by the prevention of cell cycle arrest and a decrease of "senescence" phenotype. The effect of senexin B in cells with intact p53 is similar to that of Tp53 gene knockout: irradiated HCT116p53KO cells passed through the interphase and died independently of senexin B. The inhibitor reduced the ability of cells to colony formation in response to irradiation; p53 status did not affect the effectiveness of the combination of radiation and senexin B.

The molecular dynamics method was used to study the structure and properties of dendrigrafts of the first and second generations in methanol-water mixtures with various volume fractions of methanol. At a small volume fraction of methanol, the size and other properties of both dendrigrafts are very similar to those in pure water. A decrease in the dielectric constant of the mixed solvent with an increase in the methanol fraction leads to the penetration of counterions into the dendrigrafts and a reduction of the effective charge.

In this article, we used the numerical self-consistent field method of Scheutjens-Fleer to study the micellization of hybrid molecules consisting of one polylysine dendron with charged end groups and several linear hydrophobic tails attached to its root. The main attention was paid to spherical micelles and the determination of the range of parameters at which they can appear. A relationship has been established between the size and internal structure of the resulting spherical micelles and the length and number of hydrophobic tails, as well as the number of dendron generations.

Vesicles formed by DMPC liposomes externally conjugated with branched polyglycerol-dendrons as well as linear PEG in water solution were simulated using the DPD method. Such a structure of vesicles corresponds to the structure of polymer-grafted liposomes obtained experimentally by the post-insertion method, in which polymer chains are fixed on the outer surface of the liposome. The interaction of colloidal particles with a planar polymer brush immersed in a solvent of variable thermodynamic quality is studied by a numerical self-consistent field method combined with analytical mean-field theory. The effect of embedded particle on the distribution of polymer density in the brush is analyzed and the particle insertion free energy profiles are calculated for variable size and shape of the particles and sets of polymer-particle and polymer-solvent interaction parameters. In particular, both cases of repulsive and attractive interactions between particles and brush-forming chains are considered.

A new polycondensation aromatic rigid-chain polyester macroinitiator was synthesized and used to graft linear poly-2-ethyl-2-oxazoline as well as poly-2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline by cationic polymerization. The prepared copolymers and the macroinitiator were characterized by NMR, GPC, AFM, turbidimetry, static, and dynamic light scattering. The molar masses of the polyester main chain and the grafted copolymers with poly-2-ethyl-2-oxazoline and poly-2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline side chains were 26,500, 208,000, and 67,900, respectively.

Weak polyampholytes and globular proteins among them can be efficiently absorbed from solutions by polyelectrolyte brushes or microgels even if the net charge of the polyampholyte is of the same sign as that of the brush/microgel. We use a mean-field approach for calculating the free energy of insertion of a probe polyampholyte molecule into a polyelectrolyte brush/microgel. We anticipate that the insertion of the polyampholyte into similarly charged brush/microgel may be thermodynamically favorable due to the gain in the cumulative re-ionization free energy of the pH-sensitive acidic and basic residues.

Mutations in the LMNA gene resulting in the substitution of the highly conserved arginine 482 residue in the globular C-terminal domain of lamin A/C are associated with the Dunnigan-type familial partial lipodystrophy (FPLD2) often accompanied by impairments in the muscle tissue development. The described microbiotesting technique provides the recording of pH changes, redox potential, electrical conductivity, optical density, light scattering and luminescence intensities, and other parameters of samples with viable test microorganisms incubated in a liquid nutrient medium in the presence and absence of the tested factors. The results of using this system for the analysis of pro- and antibiotic activity of various oil products, as well as weak electromagnetic fields of the megahertz range, are presented. It has been shown that the proposed technique, compared to the standard methods, yields more detailed and objective information and is less time- and labor-consuming.

Aim: To estimate the prevalence of insomnia symptoms and their association with socio-demographic characteristics in the regions participated in the study.
Material And Methods: Data from participants of the cohort study Epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in various regions of the Russian Federation (ESSE-RF), aged 25-64 years, from 13 regions of the Russian Federation were analyzed. They were interviewed about sleep complaints: difficulties falling asleep, maintaining sleep, sleepiness and sleeping pill intake (response variants: never, less than once a week, 1-2 times a week, three and more times a week).
