The impact of climate change on vulnerable populations in pediatrics: opportunities for AI, digital health, and beyond-a scoping review and selected case studies.

Climate change critically impacts global pediatric health, presenting unique and escalating challenges due to children's inherent vulnerabilities and ongoing physiological development. This scoping review intricately intertwines the spheres of climate change, pediatric health, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a goal to elucidate the potential of AI and digital health in mitigating the adverse child health outcomes induced by environmental alterations, especially in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). A notable gap is uncovered: literature directly correlating AI interventions with climate change-impacted pediatric health is scant, even though substantial research exists at the confluence of AI and health, and health and climate change respectively.

Exploring imitation of within hand prehensile object manipulation using fMRI and graph theory analysis.

This study aims to establish an imitation task of multi-finger haptics in the context of regular grasping and regrasping processes during activities of daily living. A video guided the 26 healthy, right-handed volunteers through the three phases of the task: (1) fixation of a hand holding a cuboid, (2) observation of the sensori-motor manipulation, (3) imitation of that motor action. fMRI recorded the task; graph analysis of the acquisitions revealed the associated functional cerebral connectivity patterns.

The radiation exposure to bystanders from nuclear medicine patients is a common concern raised in nuclear medicine departments. Background: Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) represents the most common monogenic cause of kidney failure. While identifying genetic variants predicts disease progression, characterization of recently described ADPKD-like variants is limited. We explored disease progression and genetic spectrum of genetically-confirmed ADPKD families with PKD1 and non-PKD1 variants.

Association of digital eye strain with central corneal thickness: a cross-sectional observational pilot study.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate whether the digital eye strain (DES) was associated with the low central corneal thickness (CCT).

Methods: This observational cross-sectional pilot study was conducted from April 2023 to October 2023 at a tertiary eye care centre in North India, where CCT values were compared between subjects with DES and those without DES. Two hundred and eighty subjects (n = 280) aged 15-40 years with clear corneas and lenses were initially included in this study.

Chest imaging in children presents unique challenges due to varying requirements across age groups. For chest radiographs, achieving optimal images often involves careful positioning and immobilisation techniques. Antero-posterior projections are easier to obtain in younger children, while lateral decubitus radiographs are sometimes used when expiratory images are difficult to obtain and for free air exclusion.

A radiopathomics model for predicting large-number cervical lymph node metastasis in clinical N0 papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop a multimodal radiopathomics model utilising preoperative ultrasound (US) and fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) to predict large-number cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in patients with clinically lymph node-negative (cN0) papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Materials And Methods: This multicentre retrospective study included patients with PTC between October 2017 and June 2024 across seven institutions. Patients were categorised based on the presence or absence of large-number CLNM in training, validation, and external testing cohorts.

Effect of inferior oblique anterior transposition on vertical deviation.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and complications of simplified graded inferior oblique anterior transposition (IOAT) in treating at least 10 PD vertical deviation in the primary position and inferior oblique muscle overaction (IOOA).

Approximately 20% of paediatric and adolescent/young adult patients with renal tumours are diagnosed with non-Wilms tumour, a broad heterogeneous group of tumours that includes clear-cell sarcoma of the kidney, congenital mesoblastic nephroma, malignant rhabdoid tumour of the kidney, renal-cell carcinoma, renal medullary carcinoma and other rare histologies. The differential diagnosis of these tumours dates back many decades, when these pathologies were identified initially through clinicopathological observation of entities with outcomes that diverged from Wilms tumour, corroborated with immunohistochemistry and molecular cytogenetics and, subsequently, through next-generation sequencing. These advances enabled near-definitive recognition of different tumours and risk stratification of patients.

Executive functions in adults born small for gestational age at term: a prospective cohort study.

Molecular and pharmacological heterogeneity of ETV6::RUNX1 acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

ETV6::RUNX1 is the most common fusion gene in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) associated with favorable prognosis, but the optimal therapy for this subtype remains unclear. Profiling the genomic and pharmacological landscape of 194 pediatric ETV6::RUNX1 ALL cases, we uncover two transcriptomic clusters, C1 (61%) and C2 (39%). Compared to C1, the C2 subtype features higher white blood cell counts and younger age at diagnosis, as well as better early treatment responses.

Impact of pulmonary artery catheterization in patients with acute myocardial infarction cardiogenic shock.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains one of the most common causes for cardiogenic shock (CS), with high inpatient mortality (40-50 %). Studies have reported the use of pulmonary artery catheters (PACs) in decompensated heart failure, but contemporary data on their use to guide management of AMI-CS and in different SCAI stages of CS are lacking.
