Background: Postoperative drainage systems have become a standard treatment for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). We previously compared treatment results from three Scandinavian centers using three different postoperative drainage systems and concluded that the active subgaleal drainage was associated with lower recurrence and complication rates than the passive subdural drainage. We consequently changed clinical practice from using the passive subdural drainage to the active subgaleal drainage.

January 2024

Department of Mental Health, Regional Centre for Child and Youth Mental Health and Child Welfare (RKBU Central Norway), Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway.

Background: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a debilitating mental health condition usually presenting with a high degree of comorbid symptoms in the majority of cases. Although face-to-face cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is considered the therapeutic golden standard for pediatric OCD, its accessibility, availability, and consistency in delivery are still limited. To address some of these challenges, an enhanced CBT (eCBT) package was created and introduced.

Article Synopsis
  • Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a major global health issue, and the introduction of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) in 2008 aimed to improve the treatment of severe cases of PPH.
  • A historical cohort study at St Olav's University Hospital from 2008 to 2021 included 37 patients who underwent REBOA and showed successful outcomes, including a significant increase in blood pressure and a reduction in blood transfusions and hysterectomies over time.
  • The study concluded that REBOA is a safe and effective method for managing critical PPH cases, highlighting the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach for quick aortic occlusion.

was among the first loci shown to confer risk for inflammatory arthritis in the absence of an associated coding variant, but its genetic mechanism remains undefined. Using Immunochip data from 3,939 patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and 14,412 control individuals, we identified 132 plausible common non-coding variants, reduced serially by single-nucleotide polymorphism sequencing (SNP-seq), electrophoretic mobility shift, and luciferase studies to the single variant rs7034653 in the third intron of . Genetically manipulated experimental cells and primary monocytes from genotyped donors establish that the risk G allele reduces binding of Fos-related antigen 2 (FRA2), encoded by , resulting in reduced TRAF1 expression and enhanced tumor necrosis factor (TNF) production.
