Background: Pregnant women with obesity face heightened focus on weight during pregnancy due to greater risk of medical complications. Closer follow-up in maternety care may contribute to reduce risk and promote health in these women. The aim of this study was to gain a deeper insight in how pregnant women with obesity experience encounters with healthcare providers in maternity care.

Background: Patients with major burn injuries are prone to massive blood loss owing to tangential excision of burn wounds and donor skin harvesting. In general, topical application of the antifibrinolytic drug tranexamic acid (TXA) to surgical wounds reduces bleeding; however, its effect on bleeding and re-epithelialization in superficial wounds of burns has not been explored.
Methods: This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of topical TXA in reducing blood loss and its effect on wound re-epithelialization in burn surgery.

Background: A novel technique for injection of OnabotulinumtoxinA (BTA) towards the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) has shown promise in refractory chronic migraine (CM) and chronic cluster headache (CCH). Open label safety and efficacy data are presented here.
Methods: Patients with refractory CM or CCH who had received at least one injection and completed headache diaries were included.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), characterized by recurring obsessions and compulsions, affects 1-3% of the childhood population, often leading to severe impairment and reduced quality of life. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is well-documented as first choice treatment for pediatric OCD. Traditionally delivered face-to-face CBT has limitations in terms of accessibility, availability, and quality of delivery.

Background: ERAP2 is an aminopeptidase involved in antigen processing and presentation, and harbor genetic variants linked to several inflammatory diseases such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The lack of an ERAP2 gene homologue in mice has hampered functional studies, and most human studies have focused on cells of hematopoietic origin. Using an IBD biobank as vantage point, this study explores how genetic variation in ERAP2 affects gene expression in human-derived epithelial organoids upon proinflammatory stimulation.

Background: This cross-sectional study aimed to explore health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in a large heterogeneous patient sample seeking outpatient treatment at a specialist mental health clinic.
Method: A sample of 1947 patients with common mental disorders, including depressive-, anxiety-, personality-, hyperkinetic- and trauma-related disorders, completed the EuroQoL 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5L) to assess HRQoL. We investigated clinical and sociodemographic factors associated with the EQ-5D index and the EQ Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) using regression analyses.

Background: The "window of opportunity" for intensive care staff to deliver end-of-life (EOL) care lies in the timeframe from "documenting the diagnosis of dying" to death. Diagnosing the dying can be a challenging task in the ICU. We aimed to describe the trajectories for dying patients in Danish intensive care units (ICUs) and to examine whether physicians document that patients are dying in time to perform EOL care and, if so, when a window of opportunity for EOL care exists.

Objective: Little is known about thyroid cancer survivors' risk of chronic conditions. We, therefore, investigated the prevalence of drugs used for chronic conditions among thyroid cancer patients using population-wide register data.
Methods: We linked data from the Cancer Registry of Norway to the Norwegian Prescription Database and other databases for a study population of 3.

Objective: Stepped care models are frameworks for mental health care systems in several countries. According to Norwegian guidelines, individuals with mental health problems of mild severity should be treated in community mental health services, moderate severity in specialist mental health services, while complex/severe problems are often a shared responsibility. This study investigated whether patients are allocated as intended.

Background: Due to favorable results in the literature we changed our standard procedure in 2010 from trapeziectomy with LRTI to simple trapeziectomy for thumb basal joint arthrosis. A review of 49 operated hands after two years showed good results, similar to those we had obtained after LRTI.
Objective: We have now re-reviewed these patients to see if the good results persist over time.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder, and monitoring remission is a widely used measure of effectiveness of the treatment provided. It is very important to identify possible factors correlating with remission. In our substudy of BeSt InTro, a randomized controlled trial of three antipsychotic drugs, 126 patients with ICD-10 diagnoses F20-29 (F23 excluded) were randomized to one of the second-generation antipsychotic drugs amisulpride, aripiprazole or olanzapine.

Objective: Children and adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are at risk for long-term adversity, but factors influencing long-term outcomes are unclear. A general factor of psychopathology, often referred to as the p factor, captures variance shared by all mental disorders and has predicted long-term outcomes in youth with anxiety and depressive disorders. The p factor has never been examined in relation to outcomes in pediatric OCD.

Purpose: Obesity surgery and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are both associated with increased risk of intrauterine growth restriction. We investigated whether offspring of mothers with PCOS who underwent obesity surgery had an increased risk of deviating birth anthropometrics compared to offspring of mothers without PCOS.
Methods: In this observational study, data from two study databases (BAROBS and PregMet2) were supplemented with data from patient's records from secondary and tertiary hospitals.

The use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) has increased considerably in many Western countries, and there is concern that numerous conditions and diseases associated with PPI use may be adverse events. The main function of gastric acid is to defend the organism against orally ingested microorganisms, and there is also concern that alterations not only in the gastric microbiome but also the downstream intestinal microbiome may increase the risk of disease or alter the course of preexisting disease. The current study is a systematic review of the available evidence from experimental trials investigating the effects of PPIs on the gastrointestinal microbiota by next-generation sequencing.

Web-based testing of cognitive abilities allows for large-scale assessments without geographical constraints. Yet, the extent to which it can reach populations beyond the typical demographic groups recruited for cognitive studies is unclear. This study focused on comparing the characteristics of individuals from a general population study (HUNT4) who chose to participate in a cognitive study (HUNT4-Hjernetrim) with those who did not.
