Taxonomic summary of (Cestoda: Bothriocephalidae) with a redescription of (Malhotra, 1983) from India.

In this study, we use an integrative taxonomic approach to redescribe (Malhotra, 1983) (Cestoda: Bothriocephalidae), based on newly collected specimens from the type-host (Hamilton, 1822) (Cypriniformes: Danionidae) in Fulbari, Siliguri, West Bengal, India. The detailed morphological assessment, from whole mounts, histology and scanning electron microscopy, offers additional insights into the scolex structure, vitelline follicles, and egg morphology. Molecular data from this and previous studies corroborate the identity and systematics of as a bothriocephalid closely related to the Asian Fish Tapeworm, (Yamaguti, 1934).

T6SS in plant pathogens: unique mechanisms in complex hosts.

Type VI secretion systems (T6SSs) are complex molecular machines that allow bacteria to deliver toxic effector proteins to neighboring bacterial and eukaryotic cells. Although initial work focused on the T6SS as a virulence mechanism of human pathogens, the field shifted to examine the use of T6SSs for interbacterial competition in various environments, including in the plant rhizosphere. Genes encoding the T6SS are estimated to be found in a quarter of all Gram-negative bacteria and are especially highly represented in , a group which includes the most important bacterial phytopathogens.

Many organizations want to achieve diversity, yet who "counts" as contributing to diversity is malleable. Across four experiments, we explore how contextual influences shape perceptions of diversity, including what happens when information at different contextual levels conflicts. In Study 1 ( = 160) and Study 2 ( = 69, preregistered), we find that when participants believe White women, White men, and Black men to be overrepresented in a profession at the national level, individuals with those identities are rated as contributing less to the diversity of a group of workers within that profession.

This article seeks to understand to what extent cultural engagement and substance use risk factors influence families' decisions to participate, and ultimately complete, a culturally grounded substance use prevention program. Using data from a 14-week culturally oriented family-based substance use prevention program, we examine predictors of successful recruitment and retention of American Indian youth and their caregivers. Guided by the theoretical model for developing culturally specific preventions, the community-based approach to recruitment resulted in 85.

Sanguinicola Plehn, 1905 comprises 26 species that collectively infect fishes from 8 orders (Cypriniformes, Characiformes, Siluriformes, Esociformes, Salmoniformes, Labriformes, Centrarchiformes, and Perciformes). Its revision is warranted because several species assigned to the genus could represent new genera, nucleotide sequences are wanting, many species have incomplete descriptions, and types for most species are missing or of poor quality. Herein, we emend Sanguinicola based on morphology and the first nucleotide-based phylogenetic analysis that includes multiple sequences from morphologically identified adult specimens.

Deficits in inhibitory control are common with advancing age and may underlie declines in other complex cognitive functions. The inhibitory P300 event-related potential (ERP) generally decreases in amplitude with age, reflecting deficits in inhibitory performance evaluation and adaptation, with possible generators including precentral and inferior frontal gyri and midcingulate and parietal cortex. Exposure to early-life stress (ELS) is also associated with deficits in inhibitory control, smaller P300 amplitudes, and dysfunction in regions associated with P300 generation.

This chapter provides an overview of routine microscopy techniques for imaging dorsal intercalation, a convergent extension-like morphogenetic movement in the embryonic epidermis of C. elegans, including making agar mounts, low-cost four-dimensional (4D) Nomarski microscopy, laser microsurgery, and 4D fluorescence microscopy using actin and junctional fusion proteins, as well as tissue-specific promoters useful for studying dorsal intercalation.

The results of a combined structural and dynamical study of Cu-Zr-Al metallic glass forming liquids are presented. Containerless high-energy x-ray scattering experiments made using electrostatic levitation are combined with molecular dynamics simulations to probe the onset of rapid structural ordering as well as the temperature-dependent diffusivity and viscosity in three liquids: CuZrAl, CuZrAl, and CuZrAl. These compositions were chosen because they are reported to have dramatically different glass forming-ability.

Using a complex religion framework, this study examines how and why three dimensions of religiosity-biblical literalism, personal religiosity, and religious service attendance-are related to young women's reproductive and contraceptive knowledge differently by social class and race. We triangulate the analysis of survey data from the Relationship Dynamics and Social Life study (RDSL) and semi-structured interview data from the National Study of Youth and Religion (NSYR) to identify and explain patterns. From the quantitative data, we find that all three dimensions of religiosity link to young women's understandings of sex, reproduction, and contraception in unique ways according to parental education and racial identity.
