Introduction: Nationwide, population-based data on the risk of extrahepatic malignancy in patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) in Asian countries are scarce. This study aimed to examine the risk of developing extrahepatic malignancies in a nationwide cohort of patients with AIH.
Methods: Using claims data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, patients diagnosed with AIH between 2007 and 2019 (n=7,382) were matched in a 1:8 ratio with an age- and sex-matched control population (n=58,320).

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the usage patterns and hypersensitivity reaction (HSR) profiles of six nonionic iodinated contrast media (ICMs) used in computed tomography (CT) to enhance patient safety and inform evidence-based contrast agent selection.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 248,209 CT scans obtained between January 2020 and December 2022. Six ICMs (iomeprol, iohexol, ioversol, iopromide, iodixanol, and iobitridol) were compared on the basis of their usage rates, HSR incidence, and severity.

This European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) guideline provides recommendations for the management of IgE-mediated food allergy and was developed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) approach. Following the confirmation of IgE-mediated food allergy diagnosis, allergen avoidance and dietary advice (with support of a specialised dietitian, if possible) together with the provision of a written treatment plan, education on the recognition of allergic symptoms and prescription of medication including adrenaline using an auto-injector are essential. Patients with significant anxiety and requirement for coping strategies may benefit from support from a clinical psychologist.

Intermediate rhinoplasty, the correction of cleft lip nose deformities, is performed between the time of primary and secondary rhinoplasties, which is at ~6 years of age. Although intermediate rhinoplasty reduces psychological stress in school-aged children through improvements in appearance, studies on intermediate rhinoplasty are scarce. Hence, in this study, we aimed to evaluate the long-term outcomes of intermediate rhinoplasty in patients with unilateral cleft lip.

Purpose: Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) or fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) are increasingly used as initial therapies for brain metastases (BM). We aimed to assess the outcomes of SRS/FSRT in patients aged ≥65 years who had 1-10 BM from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 91 elderly NSCLC patients with 222 BM who were treated with SRS/FSRT at two institutions between 2010 and 2020.

Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a common cause of sudden cardiac death in patients with channelopathies, particularly in the young population. Although pharmacological treatment, cardiac sympathectomy, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) have been the mainstay in the management of VF in patients with channelopathies, they are associated with significant adverse effects and complications, leading to poor quality of life. Given these drawbacks, catheter ablation has been proposed as a therapeutic option for patients with channelopathies.

Objectives: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are indicated for metastatic urothelial cancer (mUC), but predictive and prognostic factors are lacking. We investigated clinical variables associated with ICI outcomes.
Methods: We performed a multicentre retrospective cohort study of 135 patients who received ICI for mUC, 2016-2021, at three Canadian centres.

Background: Companion diagnostic tests play a crucial role in guiding treatment decisions for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The Oncomine Dx Target Test (ODxTT) Multi-CDx System has emerged as a prominent companion diagnostic method. However, its efficacy in detecting driver gene mutations, particularly rare mutations, warrants investigation.

Objective: Multiple myeloma cells resist standard therapies due to overexpression of the transport protein, exportin 1. Selinexor is a novel drug that targets the Exportin 1 protein in these cells.
Data Source: A comprehensive search was done, and data showing the efficacy and safety of selinexor in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma was collected using PubMed, Google Scholar, and clincialtrials.

Hyperglycemia is commonly observed in critically ill patients and postcardiac arrest patients, with higher glucose levels and variability associated with poorer outcomes. In this study, we aim to compare glucose control in diabetic and nondiabetic patients using glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels, providing insights for better glucose management strategies. This retrospective observational study was conducted at Seoul St.

The integration of cochlear implants (CI) with brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) and artificial intelligence (AI) within the framework of transhumanism is revolutionary and this editorial highlights how this synergy can transcend human sensory experiences and auditory rehabilitation. The potential of this amalgamation extends beyond restoring auditory function to enhancing human capabilities, marking a transformative step towards a future where technology harmoniously extends human faculties.

Bile duct injuries are rare complications of hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery, leading to severe complications if not timely diagnosed and treated, with surgery traditionally being the primary treatment option. However, percutaneous transhepatic or endoscopic interventions have recently gained widespread use. We present a case study of a patient with variant biliary anatomy, who suffered biliary tract injury postcholedochal cyst resection and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy; successfully treated with percutaneous transhepatic bilioenteric neoanastomosis, guided by ultrasound and digital subtraction angiography (DSA).

Rationale: Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome is a neurological condition characterized by headache, convulsions, altered consciousness, and visual disturbance with specific radiological features, which is characterized by contrast enhancement in the occipital lobe on T2-weighted image. We report a case of sudden visual impairment of both eyes 6 days after childbirth diagnosed as postpartum preeclampsia and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) through radiological examination.
Patient Concerns: A 31-year-old female patient with headache and visual disturbance visited the clinic.

Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a commonly encountered condition, especially in inpatient settings, and is often attributed to high mortality and prolonged hospital stays. A rare entity, autoimmune heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (aHIT) refers to a condition in which antiplatelet factor-4 (PF4) antibodies activate platelets even in the absence of heparin. Our patient presented 12 days after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with altered mental status and severe thrombocytopenia.

Accurate assessment of the response to the antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) in atrial fibrillation (AF) is crucial to achieve adequate rhythm control. We evaluated the effectiveness of extended cardiac monitoring using an adhesive ECG patch in the detection of drug-refractory paroxysmal AF. Patients diagnosed with paroxysmal AF and receiving AAD therapy were enrolled.

This European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology guideline provides recommendations for diagnosing IgE-mediated food allergy and was developed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) approach. Food allergy diagnosis starts with an allergy-focused clinical history followed by tests to determine IgE sensitization, such as serum allergen-specific IgE (sIgE) and skin prick test (SPT), and the basophil activation test (BAT), if available. Evidence for IgE sensitization should be sought for any suspected foods.

EZH2, a histone methyltransferase, contributes significantly to cancer cell survival and proliferation. Although various EZH2 inhibitors have demonstrated promise in treating lymphoma, they have not fully managed to curb lymphoma cell proliferation despite effective reduction of the H3K27me3 mark. We used MS1943, an EZH2 selective degrader, which successfully diminishes EZH2 levels in lymphoma cells.
