Objective: Lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) is a prevalent condition that produces a significant burden on health care systems. Patients with LEAD have an increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular events as well as major adverse limb events. Despite significant variation in guidance on antiplatelet therapy for LEAD worldwide, many governing bodies recommend clopidogrel as the preferred single anti-platelet agent.

Background: The 313-variant polygenic risk score (PRS) provides a promising tool for clinical breast cancer risk prediction. However, evaluation of the PRS across different European populations which could influence risk estimation has not been performed.
Methods: We explored the distribution of PRS across European populations using genotype data from 94,072 females without breast cancer diagnosis, of European-ancestry from 21 countries participating in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC) and 223,316 females without breast cancer diagnosis from the UK Biobank.

Background: To analyze the anthropometric changes in women who had participated in a combined resistance and aerobic training program for more than a year and to determine the effect of the exercise on weight loss.
Methods: A total of 9,128 women aged between 20 and 60 years who registered in the Curves program, which employs a combination of resistance and aerobic training exercises, and who participated for more than 1 year were included in our analysis. The women were divided into groups according to exercise frequency: <1, 1, 2, and ≥3 days/week.

Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a neurotrophic factor usually involved in the survival, differentiation, and growth of sensory neurons and nociceptive function. Yet, it has been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). Previous studies suggested a possible relationship between NGF and OA; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unknown.

In the present study, biopolymer (chitosan and alginate)-reinforced rhamnolipid nanoparticles were prepared and represented as 'ALG-RHLP-NPs' and 'CHI-RHLP-NPs'. The sizes of the nanoparticles ranged from 150 to 300 nm. The encapsulation efficiencies of ALG-RHLP-NPs and CHI-RHLP-NPs were found to be 81.

Backgrounds And Objectives: The distal radial access (DRA), a potential alternative to the trans-radial approach (TRA), may offer advantages in terms of access site complications due to its smaller vessel diameter, especially for high bleeding risk (HBR) patients. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of DRA in HBR patients.
Methods: Based on data from the KODRA registry, a prospective, multicenter cohort, this study analyzed 1,586 patients who underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) via DRA.

Background And Objectives: Traditional manual percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) exposes operators to significant radiation and physical stress. The recently developed Advanced Vascular Intervention Assist Robot (AVIAR) 2.0 system in South Korea aimed to overcome these issues by evaluating its safety and feasibility in a clinical setting.

Background: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) has become essential for diagnosing pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and is increasingly utilized for comprehensive genome profiling (CGP) to advance precision medicine. This systematic review and meta-analysis assess the feasibility and clinical utility of EUS-TA samples for CGP in PDAC.
Methods: We conducted a thorough systematic literature search in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library up to October 2023.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is now diagnosed biologically. Since subjective cognitive decline (SCD) may indicate preclinical AD, assessing AD-biomarkers is crucial. We investigated cognitive and neurodegenerative trajectories in SCD over 24 months based on biomarker positivity, and evaluated the predictive value of plasma biomarkers.

Background And Aims: We sought to ascertain how prior exposure to tumor necrosis factor (TNF) antagonists impacts treatment response with various classes of advanced therapies in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), through a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: Through a systematic review of multiple databases through June 30, 2024, we identified 17 randomized controlled trials in 8871 adults with moderate-severe UC who were treated with different advanced therapies vs placebo, and reported efficacy in induction of clinical remission, stratified by prior exposure to TNF antagonists. We calculated the ratio of odds ratio of achieving remission with active drug vs placebo, in TNF antagonist-naïve vs TNF antagonist-exposed patients.

Background: The management of patients with subclavian artery injury is rapidly evolving from an open to an endovascular approach. We aim to present an analysis of management and a comparison of outcomes according to the type of approach used to treat these challenging injuries.
Methods: Adult patients with subclavian arterial injuries were abstracted from the National Inpatient Sample database from 2012-2014 and 2016-2021.

While the phenotypic diversity of childhood wheezing is well described, the subsequent life course of such phenotypes and their adult outcomes remain poorly understood. We hypothesized that different childhood wheezing phenotypes have varying longitudinal outcomes at age 26. We sought to identify factors associated with wheezing persistence, clinical remission, and new onset in adulthood.

Large language models (LLMs) show promise in healthcare but face challenges with hallucinations, particularly in rapidly evolving fields like diabetes management. Traditional LLM updating methods are resource-intensive, necessitating new approaches for delivering reliable, current medical information. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a novel retrieval system to enhance LLM reliability in diabetes management across different languages and guidelines.

Introduction: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is known for its high proliferative rate and poor prognosis. Although Delta-like ligand 3 (DLL3) is specifically expressed on the surface of SCLC, the association of DLL3 with prognosis in SCLC remains uncertain. Hence, we aimed to evaluate prognostic role of DLL3 in extensive stage of SCLC treated with first-line chemotherapy.

Pharmacogenetic-guided prescribing can lead to more accurate medicine selection and dosing, improving patient outcomes and leading to better use of health care budgets. Loss-of-function variants in CYP2C19 influence an individual's ability to metabolize clopidogrel, increasing the risk of secondary vascular events following ischemic stroke and percutaneous coronary intervention. In acute clinical contexts, centralized laboratory-based testing is too slow to inform timely clinical decision-making.
