The seamless transition through stages of pluripotency relies on a balance between transcription factor networks and epigenetic mechanisms. Here, we reveal the crucial role of the transgene activation suppressor (TASOR), a component of the human silencing hub (HUSH) complex, in maintaining cell viability during the transition from naive to primed pluripotency. TASOR loss in naive pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) triggers replication stress, disrupts H3K9me3 heterochromatin, and impairs silencing of LINE-1 (L1) transposable elements, with more severe effects in primed PSCs.

Background: Psychosocial adjustment (PSA) in patients exhibits a positive correlation with dyadic coping (DC) and a negative correlation with fear of disease progression (FoP). However, few studies have explored how DC impacts PSA and whether FoP mediates this relationship.
Objective: To investigate the status of DC, FoP, and PSA in patients with malignancy and their caregivers and to explore the actor-partner and mediating effect of FoP on the association between PSA and DC.

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic led to a rapid expansion of telehealth utilization in medicine. However, the quality measures associated with telehealth use remain unclear, particularly among vulnerable populations. This study aims to investigate the impact of telehealth on individuals' perception of overall quality care among vulnerable patient populations.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore latent profiles of illness perception among cancer patients and its influencing factors.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study adopting convenience sampling to select cancer patients from two hospitals in China. A total of 286 patients completed Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire, Post-traumatic Growth Inventory, Fear of Disease Progression Questionnaire and Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale.

Melorheostosis is a rare benign bone pathology involving bone dysplasia and hyperostosis. The disease can be recognized with a characteristic radiographic feature of radiopaque lesions dripping along a long bone's diaphysis. The aberrant bone formation and development manifests mainly as pain, edema, and paresthesia of the affected limb.

Hearing loss is one of the most common symptoms of neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) caused by vestibular schwannomas (VSs). Fibrosis in the VS tumor microenvironment (TME) is associated with hearing loss in patients with NF2. We hypothesized that reducing the fibrosis using losartan, an FDA-approved antihypertensive drug that blocks fibrotic and inflammatory signaling, could improve hearing.

Porcine sperm motility was assessed via resazurin reduction color change in sperm cells using a novel paper-based assay of our own design. We applied mixtures of resazurin solution and porcine semen onto hydrophilic test circles on our paper-based device and investigated the resulting reduction reaction expressed as red and blue color intensity (RBCI). We quantified this reaction using a blue/pink color ratio from our 8 × 3 = 24 bit RGB color image.

Adenocarcinoma (ADC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC) are the two predominant subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and are distinct in their histological, molecular and clinical presentation. However, metabolic signatures specific to individual NSCLC subtypes remain unknown. Here, we perform an integrative analysis of human NSCLC tumour samples, patient-derived xenografts, murine model of NSCLC, NSCLC cell lines and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and reveal a markedly elevated expression of the GLUT1 glucose transporter in lung SqCC, which augments glucose uptake and glycolytic flux.

Adolescents who attend high school as preparatory boarding students are growing up and learning to care for themselves in a very different set of circumstances than those who live at home with their families. Although this choice may present myriad opportunities for personal growth and academic advantages, nurturance and support from caring adults is necessary to foster health and well-being. Our model of a collaborative relationship between nursing and counseling in providing health services to the adolescents in our care at St.

Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS) is an X-linked semi-dominant disorder characterized by diverse phenotypes including intellectual disability, facial and digital anomalies. Loss-of-function mutations in the Ribosomal Protein S6 Kinase Polypeptide 3 (RPS6KA3) gene have been shown to be responsible for CLS. Among the large number of mutations, however, no exonic mutation causing exon skipping has been described.

Background: Neck and shoulder pain is fairly common among adolescents in Korea and results in significant health problem. The aims of this prospective study was to identify the effects of education, in terms of recognition of this issue and posture correction, on prevalence and severity of neck and shoulder pain in Korean adolescents.
Methods: A prospective, observational cohort design was used.
Background: Neck and shoulder pain (NSP) is fairly common in adolescents, which is associated with a high prevalence of NSP found during adulthood as well; therefore, its significance during adolescence should not be underestimated. We surveyed the prevalence of recurrent NSP, lifestyle, and risk factors in Korean high school students, and examined the influence of recurrent NSP on the quality of life.
Methods: Nine hundred thirty one male students (16-19 years old) from two academic high schools in Seoul were included in this study.

Nurses as accessible, helping adults within schools have daily opportunities to reach adolescents with unmet mental health needs. Understanding the relationship between frequent clinic visits or somatic complaints as a sign of underlying problems, which may be organic or psychoemotional in origin, requires the unique skill set of the school nurse. The welcoming school nurse, who cares for students with acceptance and emotional availability, nurtures the development of trust and meaningful personal connection.
