Traditionally, left-sided upper extremity (LUE) access has been preferred in patients undergoing endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) to manage aortic aneurysms and decrease the risk of cerebrovascular adverse events. Recently, right-sided upper extremity access (RUE) has gained popularity owing to its greater maneuverability and ergonomics. Leptospirosis, also known as Weil's disease, is an emerging zoonotic infection that occurs worldwide but is particularly common in the tropics. There has been an increasing trend of leptospirosis in the Philippines since the outbreak occurred in 2020. The number of reported cases was 182 in 2020, 1661 in 2021, and 2794 in 2022.

Background: Obesity's effect on outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients with reduced versus maintained ejection fraction (HFrEF and HFpEF) remains debatable. We evaluated hospital outcomes and healthcare expenditures in these patients based on their Body Mass Index (BMI).
Methods: Using the USA National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database, patients >18 years admitted with a primary diagnosis of HFrEF or HFpEF between January 1, 2004, and August 31, 2015, were studied.

Saddle pulmonary embolism (SPE) is a rare type of pulmonary embolism that can lead to hemodynamic compromise causing sudden deaths. Due to a dearth of large prospective studies in this area, little is known regarding the epidemiology, and prognosis and factors affecting the latter for COVID-19-associated SPE. We aimed to describe COVID-19-associated SPE and quantify and compare mortality and factors affecting mortality among the cases.
