Vaccination Education Deficits and Vaccine Hesitancy Among Healthcare Students in Japan: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background/objectives: Healthcare professionals' (HCPs') accurate knowledge of and positive attitudes toward immunization greatly influence society's acceptance of it. Early and appropriate immunization education for HCP students is vital. This study aimed to understand current immunization education and vaccine hesitancy among medical, nursing, and pharmacy students in Japan.

Development and feasibility of an oral health e-learning program for long-term Japanese overseas workers: a pilot randomized controlled trial.

Background: This study aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of an oral health self-care e-learning intervention for overseas workers as well as the research procedures for a future controlled trial.

Methods: We randomly allocated participants to either the intervention (n = 48) or control (n = 51) group. The intervention group received a standardized leaflet plus a theory-based oral health e-learning program.

Effect of a Community-Based Program to Accelerate Referral to Physicians for Individuals at High-Risk of Lifestyle-Related Diseases: A Cluster Randomized Trial.

Aim: A cluster randomized trial was conducted within 43 Japanese municipalities (21 intervention and 22 usual care) to examine whether the standardized health counseling for individuals at high cardiovascular risk screened at community sites accelerates clinic visits to strengthen the primary health care system.

Methods: Among high-risk individuals aged 40-74 years screened by health checkups, 8,977 and 6,733 were allocated to the intervention and usual care groups, respectively, who were not under medical treatment but had high levels of blood pressure (systolic/diastolic ≥ 160/100 mmHg), hemoglobin A1c or glucose (≥ 7.0% or corresponding glucose levels), LDL-cholesterol (≥ 180 mg/dL for men), and/or proteinuria of ≥ 2+.

Reliability and Validity of the Japanese Pediatric Version of Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale.

Context: Few instruments in Japanese assess health-related quality of life in pediatric cancer patients.

Objectives: To translate the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale (MSAS) into Japanese pediatric and proxy versions (MSAS-J 7-12, MSAS-J 13-18, and MSAS-J-Proxy) and assess validity and reliability.

Methods: Phase I comprised forward-backward translation and pilot testing in 13 children and 16 guardians.

Background: The practice of cancer diagnosis disclosure to children has been changed with the times. The regulations of clinical trials in the 2000s might change the practice in Japan. However, the perspective of this topic among children and adults has not been investigated in detail.

Concept analysis of dignity-centered care for people with chronic progressive disease.

Aim: This concept analysis describes attributes, antecedents, and consequences of dignity-centered care for people with chronic progressive disease.

Methods: Rodgers' method of concept analysis was used to clarify the concept's defining attributes. Databases searched were PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and Ichushi-Web by NPO Japan Medical Abstracts Society, in English and Japanese, from 1976 to 2017.

[Vitalizing public health activities through community assessment: A report of the Committee on Public Health Nursing 2014-2017].

Objectives　This report aims to present the community assessment model developed by the Committee on Public Health Nursing (6th term) of the Japanese Association of Public Health. This new model was designed such that it could be applied to a broad range of public health activities. It aims at theorizing public health nurses' practice-based knowledge and sharing it among other public health professionals.

Social marketing including financial incentive programs at worksite cafeterias for preventing obesity: a systematic review.

Background: As with food-taxation strategies, such interventions as discounted healthy menus, point-of-purchase advertisements, and sugar-free beverages for employees at worksites could help prevent obesity. This study assessed the effectiveness of food environment interventions incorporating financial incentive or social marketing strategies at workplace cafeterias, vending machines, and kiosks toward preventing obesity and improving dietary habits.

Methods: We conducted searches on CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO databases.

Effectiveness of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs among patients with primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy: A systematic review.

Background: Primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (PHO), also known as pachydermoperiostosis is a rare genetic disease which predominantly affects skin, bone and soft connective tissue. It is characterized by the triad of pachydermia, digital clubbing and periostosis of long bones. Arthralgia or arthritis is also present in most of the cases.

Effect of a decision aid with patient narratives in reducing decisional conflict in choice for surgery among early-stage breast cancer patients: A three-arm randomized controlled trial.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effect of a decision aid (DA) with patient narratives on decisional conflict in surgery choice for Japanese women with early-stage breast cancer.

Methods: Two hundred ten women with early-stage breast cancer were randomly assigned to an intervention or control group. Groups 1 and 2 received standard information and a DA, with or without patient narratives, and Group 3 received standard information (control) before surgery choice.

Health-related quality of life in Japanese children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during and after chemotherapy.

Background: Quality of life (QOL) as a treatment outcome has not yet been evaluated among patients receiving a specific treatment regimen by treatment phase in a consistent manner. This exploratory cross-sectional study evaluated the QOL of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) receiving one of the most popular treatment regimens in Japan (Japan Association of Childhood Leukemia Study ALL-02 revised protocol).

Methods: Children aged 5-18 years with newly diagnosed B-cell precursor ALL were included.
