Background: A comprehensive medication review (CMR) is an annual service offered to eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries as a component of the Medication Therapy Management program. However, little is known about the most meaningful aspect of CMRs from the patient's perspective. This information is necessary to help improve the service.

An inpatient heart failure order set may be a convenient and useful intervention to improve heart failure therapy in the inpatient setting. This is a retrospective study that assessed the use of an inpatient heart failure order set on pharmacologic therapy in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure from May to August 2022.

This article reviews how pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) play a role in the delivery of modern healthcare services. A discussion regarding the lack of transparency regarding PBM services, consolidation of the market and vertical integration, as well as a typical flow of payments related to medications is provided. Authors review what higher drug costs are doing to patients, and provide an overview of what is happening to fight these trends.

Background: Mycophenolic Acid (MPA) is the most used anti-proliferative in lung transplantation, but its pharmacokinetic (PK) variability has precluded therapeutic drug monitoring. Both genetic and clinical factors have been implicated in MPA variability. This study aimed to integrate genetic and clinical factors with PK measurements to quantify MPA exposure.

Introduction: Untreated bipolar disorder in pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Despite advances in clinical management, there is concern among obstetric providers and patients about the safety of pharmacological agents for the treatment of bipolar disorder in pregnancy. Recent studies have shown atypical antipsychotics and lamotrigine to have a favorable safety profile; however, little information is published on lurasidone.

Autophagy is an essential self-degradative and recycling mechanism that maintains cellular homeostasis. Estrogen receptor-related orphan receptors (ERRs) are fundamental in regulating cardiac metabolism and function. Previously, we showed that ERR agonists improve cardiac function in models of heart failure and induce autophagy.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects approximately 14% of adults in the United States and is present in at least 10% of the population worldwide. Blood glucose and blood pressure control are imperative to adequately manage CKD as they are the only primary prevention measures for the condition. Recent changes in CKD evaluation and medication therapies that modify disease progression and aid in managing complications such as anemia of CKD have emerged, including a newly approved mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist and hypoxia-inducible factor-prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor, respectively.

Diagnosis education is explicitly included in the Draft Accreditation Standards 2025 and should be wholeheartedly supported. To address the staggering number of diagnostic errors in the US, the National Academy of Medicine advocates for diagnosis education for all health professions. Misperceptions of pharmacists' involvement in diagnosis are exacerbated by use of implicit language and euphemisms, and it's long overdue that we provide clarity.

Professional CGM (ProCGM) is recommended when personal CGM is not desired or available. Patients in medically underserved areas may have limited access to personal CGM devices, thus ProCGM devices can be used for short-term monitoring and medication adjustment.

Objectives: Small fiber neuropathy presents a significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. To solve this challenge, efforts have been made to identify autoantibodies associated with this condition. Previous literature has often considered tri-sulfated heparin disaccharide (TS-HDS) and fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) as a singular seropositive group and/or focused primarily on symptomatic associations.

Opioid use disorder is a chronic relapsing disorder encompassing misuse, dependence, and addiction to opioid drugs. Long term maintenance of associations between the reinforcing effects of the drug and the cues associated with its intake are a leading cause of relapse. Indeed, exposure to the salient drug-associated cues can lead to drug cravings and drug seeking behavior.

Neuropathic pain causes both sensory and emotional maladaptation. Preclinical animal studies of neuropathic pain-induced negative affect could result in novel insights into the mechanisms of chronic pain. Modeling pain-induced negative affect, however, is variable across research groups and conditions.
