Nanoparticles Induced Biomimetic Remineralization of Acid-Etched Dentin.

J Dent (Shiraz)

December 2024

Dept. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, St.Joseph Dental College, Duggirala, Eluru, Andra Pradesh, India.

Statement Of The Problem: Dentin bonding with etch-and-rinse adhesives involves demineralizing the 5-8µm of the surface dentin to create micro space for resin infiltration. The presence of continuous fluid movement in dentin tubules and positive pulpal pressure prevents complete water replacement by resin monomers. This results in areas of demineralized dentin, which contain collagen fibers without resin infiltration.

Introduction: The maxillary sinuses are air-filled cavities which vary in size and shape. Sinus radiography has been widely used in the determination of the gender of the individual, especially in forensic investigation for human identification and sexing of individuals. The advanced radiographic techniques like cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), especially the axial and coronal sections, have been considered as a subtle concept in forensic odontology.

Background And Aim: USP22 is a positive regulator in tumor growth, its depletion leads to cell cycle arrest at G1 phase. USP22 over expression was positively correlated with proteins involved in proliferation and negatively correlated with tumor suppressor protein tumor supprn. Ki-67 expression is associated with USP22 over expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and also in cervical and prostate cancers.

DNA mutilation: A telltale sign of cancer inception.

J Oral Maxillofac Pathol

July 2023

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, St Joseph Dental College and Hospital, Duggirala, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, India.

DNA damage is a discrepancy in its chemical structure precipitated by a multitude of factors. Most DNA damages can be repaired efficiently through diverse restorative mechanisms subjective to the type of damage. DNA-damaging agents elicit a medley of cellular retorts like cell cycle arrest, followed by DNA repair mechanisms or apoptosis.

Background: Pulpotomy is the most common pulp treatment of primary molars, where surgical amputation of infected coronal pulp results in preserving the vitality and function of radicular pulp. With introduction of newer materials, the emphasis has shifted towards regeneration, in this scenario; novel materials such as platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) and propolis (PS) have been considered.

Materials And Methods: This was a single-blind study; ninety human primary teeth from children aged between 5 and 10 years were divided into three equal groups in whom pulpotomy procedure was performed and they were recalled after 3- and 6-month interval for histological evaluation.

Introduction Residual ridge resorption (RRR) is a chronic inflammatory process; the free radicals formed may lead to tissue damage in the form of bone resorption mediating through many pathways and processes. We aimed to study the correlation between levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme and residual ridge resorptive status levels in completely edentulous patients. Methods This study included 45 patients aged 40-65 yrs who were completely edentulous.

Context: Success or failure of a restoration depends on its ability to bond to the tooth structure, to reduce microleakage, and to inhibit secondary caries. Fluoride-releasing materials have the inherent potential to release fluoride and are also capable of recharging themselves with topical agents.

Aim: The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the effect of fluoride recharge on microleakage of different restorative materials.

The superficial cervical plexus block (SCPB) is well acknowledged, accepted for regional anesthetic for the submandibular area, neck region, and ear lobe. It is a possible valuable anesthetic technique in individuals to be operated on with conditions such as ear lobe lacerations, submandibular abscesses, and trauma to the mandibular or the neck region. Its application in oral and maxillofacial surgery is for various surgical procedures in the peri-mandibular area, excision of superficial lesions in the mandibular, ear lobe, neck region, and suturing of the skin in the corresponding region.

Salivary gland tumor looms as painless enlarging mass which may embrace in both major or minor glands. Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) accord about 40-70% of all salivary gland tumors, where Warthin tumor, basal cell adenoma (BCA), adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), and sebaceous tumors have a strong predilection for major salivary gland. However, polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) has a marked predilection for the minor salivary gland.

Aim Of The Study: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the occlusal relationship of the mesiobuccal cusp of a mandibular first molar with the marginal ridge of maxillary first molar and second premolar and to analyze the effect of the above occlusal relation on different direct and indirect restorations using finite element analysis (FEA).

Methodology: Four hundred volunteers studying in a dental college were screened, of which 100 volunteers were selected for studying occlusal relationships based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The two most common occlusal relationships were considered for analyzing two direct (amalgam and direct composite restorations) and two indirect restorations (composite and ceramic restorations).
