This study reports the concentrations of trace metals in core sediments profile from the coastal and four rivers estuary in the Kuching Division of Sarawak, Malaysia, and the controlling mechanisms influencing their availability in sediments of the studied area. The bonding of trace metals with non-mobile fractions was confirmed with the sequential extraction. Inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) was used to measure the concentrations of the trace metals.

Ce/Dy and Ce/Sm co-doped alumino-borophosphate glasses (CDABP/ CSABP) were prepared and characterized for luminescence and SHG efficiency properties. FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra have been utilized to identify different functional groups of Phosphate networks. Various optical properties such as, optical absorption, optical band gap energy (E), Urbach energy (ΔE) and linear refractive index (n) of the glasses were determined using UV-Vis spectrometer in the spectral range 200-1200 nm.

A greater rate of phloem unloading and storage in the stem, not a higher rate of sugar production by photosynthesis or sugar export from leaves, is the main factor that results in sugar accumulation in sweet dwarf sorghum compared to grain sorghum. At maturity, the stem internodes of sweet sorghum varieties accumulate high concentrations of fermentable sugars and represent an efficient feedstock for bioethanol production. Although stem sugar accumulation is a heritable trait, additional factors that drive sugar accumulation in sorghum have not been identified.

Friction surfacing is a solid-state coating process that uses plastic deformation to improve the efficiency of the core metallic pattern, resulting in fine-grained coatings with superior wear and corrosion properties. This article focuses on the development of inherently homogeneous, non-diluted coating of AISI316Ti stainless steel above EN8 and also encloses the empirical relationship for the prediction of bond strength (B), coating thickness (C), and coating width (C). The key individualities for bonding geometry were believed to be the process parameters such as rotational speed (rpm), traverse speed (mm/s), and axial load (kN).

We present a corroborative study of the structural characterization of lithium-substituted barium vanadate glasses using Raman and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. Investigation of the thermal and physical properties of these glasses showed a gradual increase in the concentration of nonbridging oxygen. Raman and EPR analysis gave an insight into the changing structure of the glasses.

World-Health-Organization (WHO) has listed Tuberculosis (TB) as one among the top 10 reasons for death and an early diagnosis will help to cure the patient by giving suitable treatment. TB usually affects the lungs and an accurate bio-imaging scheme will be apt to diagnose the infection. This research aims to implement an automated scheme to detect TB infection in chest radiographs (X-ray) using a chosen Deep-Learning (DL) approach.

Recently, a significant way to diagnose the disease is using the model of medical data mining. The most challenging task in the healthcare field is to face a large amount of data during disease analyzes and prediction. Once the data are transformed into valuable data by means of data mining models then the actual prediction and decision making is easier.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a disorder of the neuromuscular system that causes the impairment of nerve cells from brain to spinal cord and to the voluntary muscles in every part of the human physiological system, which totally leads to paralysis. The examination of ALS using Electromyograms (EMG) is a challenging task which requires experts to investigate and diagnose. Hence, the development of an efficient and automated procedure is significant for the analysis of ALS signals.

In the present study, a machine learning (ML) model was developed to predict the epistatic phenomena of combination mutants to improve the anticancer antibody-drug trastuzumab's binding affinity towards its antigen human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). An ML algorithm, Support Vector Regression (SVR) was used to develop ML models with a data set consists of 193 affinity values of single mutants of trastuzumab and its associated various amino acid sequence derived descriptors. The subset selection of descriptors and SVR hyperparameters were done using the Genetic Algorithm (GA) within the SVR and the wrapper approach called GA-SVR.

The work proposes a computer-based diagnosis method (CBDM) to delineate and assess the corpus callosum (CC) segment from the 2-dimensional (2D) brain magnetic resonance images (MRI). The proposed CBDM consists of two parts: (1) preprocessing and (2) postprocessing sections. The preprocessing tools have a multithreshold technique with the chaotic cuckoo search (CCS) algorithm and a preferred threshold procedure.

A mild, efficient, and one-pot protocol for three-component carbosilylation of alkenes with imidazoheterocycle and silanes has been developed by merging iron(II) and visible-light photocatalysis. This C-C and C-Si bond-forming method provides functionalized organosilicon derivatives having imidazoheterocycles moieties in good yields. The reaction possibly proceeds through a radical pathway.

Due to the development in science field which gives not only benefit but also introducesundesirable pollution to the environment. This pollution is due to poor discharge activities of industrial effluents into the soil and water bodies, surface run off from fields of agricultural lands, dumping of untreated wastes by municipalities, and mining activites, which deteriorates the cardinal virtue of our environment and causes menace to human health and life. Heavy metal(s), a natural constituent on earth's crust and economic important mineral, due to its recalcitrant effects creates heavy metal pollution which affects food chain and also reduces the quality of water.

Aim: The study was aimed to assess the ability of haustorium methanolic extract (BHE) on de novo glutathione biosynthesis in normal and pro-oxidant exposed cells via Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and haeme oxygenase-1 (HO1) signaling in 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionamidine) di-hydrochloride (AAPH) induced cytotoxicity in normal intestinal epithelial cells (IEC-6 cells).
Methods: The in vitro antioxidant activity was determined in terms of radical scavenging and ex vivo hemolysis. The cytoprotective effect was studied using AAP H as the alkoxyl radical inducer in IEC-6 cell model.
