Objectives: To identify markers of left ventricular dysfunction in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the effects of diabetes mellitus on them.
Methods: This was a cross sectional study of 200 consecutive chronic kidney disease patients (stage III-V). Echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular function including left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), left atrial volume, grade of diastolic dysfunction, E/E', left and right ventricular myocardial performance indices (LVMPI, RVMPI) were compared between diabetic and non-diabetic CKD.
Introduction: We conducted an updated meta-analysis assessing the role of antibiotic envelopes in preventing Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED)-related infections as compared to standard infection prevention strategies.
Methods: A systematic search was conducted on Medline/PubMed and EMBASE/Ovid database. We used Mantel-Haenszel method with fixed-effect model to compute risk ratio (RR) with 95% confidence interval (CI).
Background: The denouement of remote ischemic preconditioning on new onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF) post-cardiac surgery is not well-established. An updated meta-analysis of randomized control trials was performed by comparing remote ischemic preconditioning with controls and the outcome of interest was NOAF.
Methods: The systemic review was performed in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred reporting items for systemic review) and AHA (American Heart Association) guidelines PubMed database was searched to include relevant randomized control trials from inception to July 2019.
