Background: The effect of donor body mass index (BMI) on liver transplantation (LT) outcomes remains unclear.
Methods: A systematic search of the MEDLINE, CENTRAL, Web of Science, and bibliographic reference lists was conducted. All comparative studies evaluating the outcomes of LT in obese (BMI > 30 kg/m) and nonobese donors (BMI < 30 kg/m) were included, and their risk of bias was assessed using the ROBINS-I assessment tool.

Objectives: This analysis assessed current endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) practice within the UK, including use of sedation and patient comfort.
Methods: ERCPs conducted over 1 year (1 July 2021-30 June 2022) and uploaded to the National Endoscopy Database (NED) were analysed. The endoscopist workforce was classified by gender and specialty, use of sedation was analysed.

Background: Pure laparoscopic donor hepatectomy (PLDH) for adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) remains controversial. The aim of this study was to undertake a systematic review and meta-analysis of donor outcomes following PLDH for adult LDLT.
Materials And Methods: Systematic review in line with the meta-analysis of observational studies in epidemiology guidelines.

Background: Evidence suggests that perioperative blood loss and blood transfusions are associated with poorer long-term outcomes in patients undergoing other oncological surgery. The aim of this study was to determine the long-term outcomes of patients requiring a blood transfusion post-hepatectomy for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).
Methods: This is a retrospective review from 2005 to 2012.

Background: Extensive resection for hilar cholangiocarcinoma is the most effective treatment, but high morbidity and poor prognosis remain concerns. Previous data have shown marked differences in outcomes between comparable Eastern and Western centers. We compared the outcomes of the management for hilar cholangiocarcinoma at one Japanese and one British institution with comparable experience.

Department of HPB and Transplant Surgery, St James's University Hospital NHS Trust, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the impact of non-anatomical liver resection (NAR) versus anatomical resection (AR) in patients with colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM), with regard to perioperative and long-term outcomes.
Methods: Analysis of prospectively collected data for patients with CRLM who underwent either AR or NAR between January 1993 and August 2011 was performed. The impact of AR and NAR on morbidity, mortality, margin positivity, redo liver resections, overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) was analysed.

Inguinal herniation of the transplant ureter is rare, and there is a paucity of reports in the literature. Herniation is usually secondary to implanting a long redundant ureter and may be precipitated by its course over the spermatic cord. Most often, there is loss of the allograft owing to delayed presentation and chronic ureteric obstruction.

Background: There is increasing evidence that perioperative blood loss and blood transfusions are associated with poorer short- and long-term outcomes in patients undergoing hepatectomy. The aim of this study was to systematically review the literature for non-surgical measures to decrease intraoperative blood loss during liver surgery.
Methods: The literature search was performed using PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL and Google Scholar databases.

Background: Lymph node (LN) status is an important predictor of survival following resection of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PHCCA). Controversies still exist with regard to the prognostic value of optimum extent of lymphadenectomy, total number of nodes removed, LN ratio (LNR) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) following PHCCA resection.
Methods: From 1994 to 2010, 84 PHCCAs were resected; 78 are included in this analysis.
