Background: Circulating markers are attractive molecules for prognosis and management of cancer that allow sequential monitoring of patients during and after treatment. Based on previous protein profiling data, circulating interleukin 1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) was evaluated as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck (SCCHN). In this study, we aimed at confirming the clinical relevance of plasma IL-1Ra in SCCHN and exploring its potential as a prediction marker for SCCHN.

Despite a remarkable increase in the genomic profiling of cancer, integration of genomic discoveries into clinical care has lagged behind. We report the feasibility of rapid identification of targetable mutations in 153 pediatric patients with relapsed/refractory or high-risk leukemias enrolled on a prospective clinical trial conducted by the LEAP Consortium. Eighteen percent of patients had a high confidence Tier 1 or 2 recommendation.

We report a case of chronic hepatosplenic aspergillosis following immune reconstitution complicating colic aspergillosis in an AIDS patient with multicentric Castleman disease. Symptoms mimicked the clinical presentation of chronic disseminated candidiasis and responded to corticosteroid. This emerging entity enlarges the spectrum of fungal immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome in the HIV setting.

The management of diseases such as cancer in developing countries are often suboptimal given a lack of resources and access to specialists and therapeutics. In March 2020, Syria descended into its ninth year of the war with a rising death toll and millions of Syrian refugees. Aside from the inherent dangers of war, cancer care during war is especially difficult with partially or non-functional infrastructure due to destruction, inconsistent electrical power, inaccessibility, or the inherent dangers of living in a war zone.

Background: There is uncertainty about the impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in individuals with rare inborn errors of immunity (IEI), a population at risk of developing severe coronavirus disease 2019. This is relevant not only for these patients but also for the general population, because studies of IEIs can unveil key requirements for host defense.
Objective: We sought to describe the presentation, manifestations, and outcome of SARS-CoV-2 infection in IEI to inform physicians and enhance understanding of host defense against SARS-CoV-2.

Guidelines for the management of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) infections recommend a combination of two active agents, including meropenem if the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) is ≤8 mg/L. The therapeutic equivalence of meropenem generics has been challenged. We compared the bactericidal activity of meropenem innovator (AstraZeneca) and four generic products (Actavis, Kabi, Mylan and Panpharma), both in vitro and in vivo, in association with colistin.

Mucin 1 (MUC1) is a membrane-bound and secreted glycoprotein that has a protective role in surface epithelia. We recently demonstrated that MUC1 mRNA expression was upregulated in tumour-free tongue tissues adjacent to squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue (SCCOT) compared with that in the tumour tissues. The present study investigated MUC1 protein in SCCOT tissue and serum from patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) at different sub-sites.

To assess the efficiency of the endometrial immune profiling as a method to design personalized care to enhance the pregnancy rate in a large heterogeneous infertile population. We hypothesized that some reproductive failures could be induced by a uterine immune dysregulation which could be identified and corrected with a targeted plan. Prospective cohort study.

Aim: Very preterm birth is associated with a high risk of enteropathies. Diagnosis is challenging, especially in mild forms, leading to unnecessary periods of cessation of enteral feeding. This study aimed at establishing a prognosis score of enteropathy combining clinical parameters and faecal calprotectin concentration.

Objective: To use alternative quantitation approaches to clarify the clinical implication of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue (SCCOT).
Materials And Methods: Ventana SP263 immunohistochemistry assay and a multiplicative QuickScore method were applied to quantify PD-L1 in tumor and surrounding immune cells from 101 patients with SCCOT. Tumor-infiltrating immune cells were estimated from bulk tissue transcriptional profiles of 25 patients.

Objective: To examine factors associated with short-term relapse in patients with pemphigus treated with rituximab.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This post hoc analysis of a randomized clinical trial (Comparison Between Rituximab Treatment and Oral Corticosteroid Treatment in Patients With Pemphigus [RITUX 3]) conducted from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2015, included patients from 20 dermatology departments of tertiary care centers in France from the RITUX 3 trial and 3 newly diagnosed patients treated according to the trial protocol.

After heart transplant, adding everolimus (EVL) to standard immunosuppressive regimen mostly relies on converting calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) into EVL. The aim of this study was to describe the effects of combining low-dose EVL and CNIs in maintenance immunosuppression regimen (quadritherapy) and compare it with standard tritherapy associating standard-dose CNIs, mycophenolate mofetil, and corticosteroids. In the 3-year registry cohort of heart transplanted patients, those who received quadritherapy were compared with those who received tritherapy.
