Epithelial ovarian cancer is aggressive and causes high mortality among women worldwide. Members of the plakin family are essential to maintain cytoskeletal integrity and key cellular processes. In this study we characterised the expression of plakins, particularly plectin (PLEC), periplakin (PPL), envoplakin (EVPL), and EMT-related proteins by immunohistochemistry in n = 48 patients' samples to evaluate a potential correlation of plakin expression with EMT as EOC progresses.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive disease characterized by endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling and is a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Although it is independently associated with multiple comorbidities, the impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on mortality in patients with PH remains uncertain. To address this issue, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effect of DM on survival in patients with pulmonary hypertension.

Background: Cerebral aneurysm rupture is a major cause of potential years of life lost. Research on rupture risk has often compared unruptured and ruptured aneurysms, with the implicit assumption that the rupture event does not significantly change aneurysm morphology. However, aneurysm morphology is charged by rupture, although precisely how remains a matter of debate.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the external validation and performance of an FDA-approved deep learning model in labeling intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) cases on a real-world heterogeneous clinical dataset. Furthermore, we delved deeper into evaluating how patients' risk factors influenced the model's performance and gathered feedback on satisfaction from radiologists of varying ranks.
Methods: This prospective IRB approved study included 5600 non-contrast CT scans of the head in various clinical settings, that is, emergency, inpatient, and outpatient units.

Complications regarding inferior shoulder dislocations (ISD) are predominately rotator cuff injuries, neuropathies, and vascular insults. To our knowledge, there are no studies regarding the delayed appearance of neuropathies with inferior shoulder dislocations. A 32-year-old previously healthy male presented with an inferior shoulder dislocation that required open reduction and internal fixation after failed attempts at closed reductions in the emergency room and operating room.

Objectives: This study delves into implementing Global Provider's phone-lessness phobia (Global 3-P Study) within the healthcare sector in Africa through a multinational, cross-sectional, web-based survey from April 1st to 30 June 2023.
Methods: Utilizing a modified Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q), the research explores four dimensions of nomophobia: the inability to communicate, loss of connectedness, difficulty accessing information, and sacrificing convenience. The Global Remote Research Scholars Program (GRRSP) conducted the study, employing a 'snowball technique' for survey dissemination.

Ampakines are a class of compounds that are positive allosteric modulators of α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) receptors and enhance glutamatergic neurotransmission. Glutamatergic synaptic transmission and AMPA receptor activation are fundamentally important to the genesis and propagation of the neural impulses driving breathing, including respiratory motoneuron depolarization. Ampakines therefore have the potential to modulate the neural control of breathing.

Long-term acid suppression with proton pump inhibitors (PPI) leads to hypochlorhydria and facilitates the growth of bacterial flora in the small intestine. Novel acid-suppressants called potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs) seem to be superior to PPIs. However, data on the risk of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in patients taking P-CABs are limited.

Objective: Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is characterized by a distortion of body image, very low body weight, malnutrition and hormonal dysregulations, resulting in reduced bone mineral density (BMD) and impaired bone microarchitecture. The updated Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) algorithm accounts for soft tissue thickness (TBSTT) instead of BMI (TBSBMI). The aim of the study was to assess both TBS algorithms in adult AN patients compared to normal-weight controls(CTRL).
