The advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) as treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a paradigm in molecularly targeted cancer therapy. Nonetheless, TKI-insensitive leukemia stem cells (LSCs) persist in most patients even after years of treatment and are imperative for disease progression as well as recurrence during treatment-free remission (TFR). Here, we have generated high-resolution single-cell multiomics maps from CML patients at diagnosis, retrospectively stratified by BCR::ABL1 (%) following 12 months of TKI therapy.

Background: Insomnia symptoms that influence daytime functioning are common among adults with type 2 diabetes. However, no previous study has examined if levels of physical activity differ among adults with diabetes with and without insomnia symptoms. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the difference in total physical activity (TPA) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) levels in individuals with diabetes with and without insomnia symptoms.

Background: Although it is widely assumed that avoidant personality disorder (AvPD) originates in childhood, there is little prospective research to substantiate this claim. We therefore aimed to determine whether presumed childhood risk factors predict AvPD traits at 16 years.
Methods: A population-based sample (n = 1,077; 50.

Background: Evidence suggests dysregulated immune functions in the pathophysiology of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), although specific immune mechanisms are yet to be identified.
Methods: We assessed circulating levels of 25 immune/neuroinflammatory markers in a large ASD sample (n = 151) and matched controls (n = 72) using linear models. In addition, we performed global brain transcriptomics analyses of relevant immune-related genes.

Aims/hypothesis: Some studies find an increased risk of type 1 diabetes in children exposed to antibiotics. We investigated if exposure to antibiotics increases the risk of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We used data from a Swedish case-control study (Epidemiological Study of Risk Factors for LADA and Type 2 Diabetes [ESTRID]: LADA, n=597; type 2 diabetes, n=2065; control participants matched on participation time, n=2386) and a case-control study nested within the Norwegian Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) (n=82/1279/2050).

With the increasing prevalence of Crohn's disease (CD), treatment options for patients who fail conventional and advanced therapy are highly needed. Therefore, we explored the safety and efficacy of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) using 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and blue light (405 nm). Patients with active CD who failed or were intolerant to biological therapy were eligible.

Appetite loss is prevalent in patients with advanced cancer and negatively affects their quality of life. However, understanding of the factors associated with appetite loss is limited. The current study aims to explore characteristics and therapeutic interventions used for patients with and without appetite loss admitted to an acute palliative care unit.

Unlabelled: We aimed to investigate the risk of hip fracture associated with zoledronic acid treatment compared to alendronate on a population level. The risk of hip fracture was lower in women using zoledronic acid and higher in women who had discontinued treatment. The findings support the effectiveness of intravenous bisphosphonate.

After mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), a subgroup of individuals experience persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) that include headaches, cognitive difficulties, and fatigue. The aim of this preliminary study was to investigate possible effects associated with metacognitive therapy (MCT) on PPCS, maladaptive coping strategies, and positive and negative metacognitive beliefs following mTBI. A pre-post design supplemented with single-case A-B replication series to assess potential MCT mechanisms was used.

Objective: Fat embolism syndrome and cerebral fat emboli are rare yet serious conditions arising from systemic distribution of bone marrow emboli. Emboli are known to produce high-intensity transient signals (HITS) in a Doppler signal. We hypothesized that both intramedullary nailing in pigs and median sternotomy in human infants cause bone marrow release, that some of these cause cerebral emboli, and that these were detectable by a new cerebral doppler ultrasound monitoring system (NeoDoppler).

Background And Purpose: Progression-free survival (PFS) remains to be validated as an outcome measure for diffuse WHO grade 2 gliomas, and knowledge about the relationships between PFS, post-progression survival (PPS), and overall survival (OS) in this subset of tumors is limited. We sought to assess correlations between PFS and OS, and identify factors associated with PFS, PPS, and OS in patients treated for diffuse supratentorial WHO grade 2 gliomas.
Material And Methods: We included 319 patients from three independent observational cohorts.

Purpose: To determine whether we could establish evidence-based pass/fail criteria for perimetry in the context of the European visual field standards for driving.
Methods: This two-centre, cross-sectional study included participants with binocular visual field loss that had led to revocation of a group-1 driving licence. The participants underwent cognitive and binocular visual testing, including the European Driving Test (EDT), a perimetry algorithm that adheres to the European visual field standards.

Background: Inappropriate prescribing may have detrimental consequences for the patient and increase healthcare utilisation and costs. Academic detailing (AD) is an interactive outreach method to deliver non-commercial evidence-based medical information to healthcare professionals, aiming to improve patient care. Performing AD virtually has recently become more relevant, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose: To determine the pattern, degree and prevalence of optic disc optical coherence tomography (OCT) alterations in adults born preterm with very low birth weight (VLBW; birth weight < 1500 g).
Methods: Optic disc OCT was assessed in 98 VLBW participants and 139 term-born controls from birth cohorts in Finland and Norway at the mean age of 36 years. The participants had not been treated for retinopathy of prematurity and had no diagnosed brain abnormality.

Background: Previous studies of the incidence and case fatality of acute myocardial infarction in Norway are based on administrative data that do not distinguish between myocardial infarction with ST segment elevation (STEMI) and without ST segment elevation (NSTEMI). The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence, case fatality and patient characteristics for different types of myocardial infarction in the period 2013-2021.
Material And Method: The Norwegian Myocardial Infarction Registry, the Norwegian Patient Registry and the Norwegian Cause of Death Registry were linked in order to identify all patients with myocardial infarction.

Objective: Data validity and completeness are essential for registry data, and a meaningful interpretation of differences between countries can only be made if the data are robust within each of the countries. Therefore, the VASCUNET collaboration has performed validation of several vascular registries and so far published the validation results of national vascular registries of Sweden, Denmark, and Malta. The findings of the validation of the Swissvasc Registry, the vascular registry of Switzerland, are presented here.
