Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of healing by gentle touch in clients attending The Centre for Complementary Care (CCC) in Eskdale, Cumbria.
Study Design: An evaluation of data collected by questionnaire over 6 years.
Methods: All clients attending the CCC between 1995 and 2001 were invited to participate in this study, and data were collected from 300 subjects with a wide range of ailments who received four treatment sessions within 6 weeks.

When one thinks about the ethics of abortion, one inevitably thinks about rights, since it is in terms of the concept of rights that much of the debate has been conducted. This is true of overtly feminist as well as non-feminist accounts. Indeed, some early feminist writers--Judith Jarvis Thomson and Mary Ann Warren, for example--employ a model of rights that is indistinguishable, or virtually indistinguishable, from that of their non-feminist counterparts.

A test bank of verified chest radiographs was compiled for visual search experiments to investigate radiology performance in the detection of early lung cancer. A measure of the physical characteristics of the lesions was derived to determine the conspicuity (chi) of the nodules and to investigate possible causes of failed detection. Observer performance was measured by alternate free response operating characteristic (AFROC) methodology and was supplemented with visual search recording.
