Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by non-scarring hair loss in adults and children. Clinical manifestations range from hair loss in small, well-circumscribed patches to total hair loss on the scalp or any other hair-bearing areas. Although the exact pathogenesis of AA is not fully understood, it is thought that loss of immune privilege caused by immunological dysregulation of the hair follicle is key.

Background: The treatment of unstable fractures of the intertrochanteric region of the hip in the elderly is controversial. Conventionally, internal fixation with intramedullary nail or a dynamic hip screw is the treatment of choice in intertrochanteric fractures. Nowadays, some authors encouraged the use hip arthroplasty for management of these fractures with good outcome.

Ovarian vein thrombophlebitis is rare and mostly occurs during the puerperal period and in higher rates after a cesarean delivery. The objective of this case report and literature review is to highlight the rare occurrence of an ovarian vein thrombosis in a 37-year-old woman postcesarean delivery in the setting of a large uterine fibroid who subsequently developed a pulmonary embolism. The patient presented with severe abdominal pain, fever, and chills.

Background: We report outcomes for patients with T2N0M0 glottic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) treated with radiation therapy (RT).
Methods: Patients who received definitive RT for T2 glottic SCC from 2000 through 2013 were retrospectively reviewed.
Results: One hundred and thirteen patients were analyzed (median follow-up time 91 months; 85 patients received three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy [3D-CRT] and 28 received intensity-modulated radiation therapy [IMRT]).

An Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection generally presents with the classic infectious mononucleosis symptomatology-sore throat, lymph node enlargement, and fatigue. However, there are cases in which induced hepatitis does occur. The liver enzymes leaked during the acute damage would be apparent in the serum as an elevation of transaminases and alkaline phosphatase.

In adults, hemangioma is a rare presentation of a parotid mass. In this report, we present a case of a 40-year-old lady complaining of a swelling in the right inferior parotid region. Imaging studies revealed a cystic lesion of the right parotid gland.

A 31-year-old lady presented to the otorhinolaryngology clinic complaining of right exophtalmus. Imaging studies revealed a right frontal sinus mass, suggestive of a mucocele, and fronto-ethmoidal ground glass opacification. In the operating room, the frontal sinuses were exposed through an osteoplastic flap, and connected to the nasal cavity through a Lothrop-like drainage pathway.
