CIRSE Standards of Practice on Portal Vein Embolization and Double Vein Embolization/Liver Venous Deprivation.

This CIRSE Standards of Practice document is aimed at interventional radiologists and provides best practices for performing liver regeneration therapies prior to major hepatectomies, including portal vein embolization, double vein embolization and liver venous deprivation. It has been developed by an expert writing group under the guidance of the CIRSE Standards of Practice Committee. It encompasses all clinical and technical details required to perform liver regeneration therapies, revising the indications, contra-indications, outcome measures assessed, technique and expected outcomes.

Evaluation of a delayed liver transplantation strategy for patients with HCC receiving bridging therapy: the DELTA-HCC study.

Background & Aims: To maximize utility and prevent premature liver transplantation (LT), a delayed LT strategy (DS) was adopted in France in 2015 in patients listed for any single HCC treated with resection or thermal ablation during the waiting phase. The DS involves postponing LT until recurrence. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the DS to make sure that it did not hamper pre- and post-LT outcomes.

A non-randomized controlled study to assess the impact of the "Appui Parental", an early and intensive support programme for vulnerable families: Study protocol.

Introduction: Early home visit programmes have been developed to help parents build an adequate relationship with their baby and to prevent child developmental delays and affective disorders. The "Appui Parental" programme is an intervention carried out by nursery nurses to provide intensive parental support to vulnerable families. Before extending this programme, it seemed necessary to evaluate its impact objectively.

Introduction: This systematic review aimed to compare liver venous deprivation (LVD) with portal vein embolization (PVE) in terms of future liver volume, postoperative outcomes, and oncological safety before major hepatectomy.

Methods: We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis following the PRISMA guidelines 2020 and AMSTAR 2 guidelines. Comparative articles published before November 2022 were retained.

Background: Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) has recently been recognized as a bridging/downstaging therapy to surgery for early hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) with high rates of complete pathological necrosis (CPN) on liver explants. In patients with portal vein tumoral thrombus (PVTT), multifocal or large tumors, TARE has mainly a palliative role and surgery remains controversial in this poor-prognosis population. Background: Liver failure is the most threatening complication after hepatectomy for colorectal liver metastases. Recent studies indicate that liver functional evaluation by hepatobiliary scintigraphy (HBS) could be more sensitive than volumetry to predict the risk of post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF). The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of Tc-mebrofenin HBS, when used as the main preoperative assessment before major hepatectomy in patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer.

Portal vein embolization failure: Current strategies and future perspectives to improve liver hypertrophy before major oncological liver resection.

Portal vein embolization (PVE) is currently considered the standard of care to improve the volume of an inadequate future remnant liver (FRL) and decrease the risk of post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF). PHLF remains a significant limitation in performing major liver surgery and is the main cause of mortality after resection. The degree of hypertrophy obtained after PVE is variable and depends on multiple factors.

Evaluation of a New CT-Guided Robotic System for Percutaneous Needle Insertion for Thermal Ablation of Liver Tumors: A Prospective Pilot Study.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility and safety of a robotic system for percutaneous needle insertion during thermal ablation of liver tumors.

Materials And Methods: This study analyzed the CT-guided percutaneous needle insertion using the EPIONE robotic device (Quantum Surgical, Montpellier, France) for radiofrequency or microwave liver ablation. The main criteria of the study were feasibility (possibility to perform the thermal ablation after needle insertion), the number of needle adjustments (reiteration of robotically assisted needle insertion when initial needle positioning is considered insufficient to perform ablation), and robotic-guided procedure safety (complications related to the needle insertion).

Ibrutinib as a treatment of hematologic autoimmune disorders in patients with indolent B-cell lymphoma.

Trans-arterial radioembolization is currently performed using Y-loaded glass or resin microspheres and also using Ho-loaded microspheres. The goal of this review is to present dosimetry and radiobiology concepts, the different dosimetry approaches available (simulation-based dosimetry and post-treatment dosimetry), main confounding factors as main clinical dosimetry results provided during the last decade for both hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metastases of colorectal carcinoma (mCRC). Based on the different number of microspheres or different isotope used, radiobiology of the three devices is different, meaning that tumouricidal doses and maximal tolerated doses are different.

Inclusion Criteria: Patient with a diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCC), and/or metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who was treated with a dose of Y90 glass microspheres that has been reimbursed in France and who do not oppose use of their personal medical data.
