Presenting this video tutorial, we want to demonstrate a step-by-step surgical approach to acute intramural haematoma of the thoracic aorta without a definite entry tear. Limited by the aortic valve proximally, the intramural haematoma involved the aortic root, ascending aorta, aortic arch, including adjacent parts of supra-aortic branches, and descending aorta extending to the diaphragmatic level. The operative strategy involved urgent total aortic arch replacement with the frozen elephant trunk technique and anatomical reimplantation of the three supra-aortic vessels.

Background: Cardiac tamponade or pericardial tamponade (PT) can be a complication following invasive cardiac procedures.
Methods: Patients who underwent various procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab (viz. coronary interventions) were identified using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth and Tenth Edition, Clinical Modification (International classification of diseases [ICD]-9-Clinical modification [CM] and ICD-10-CM, respectively) from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database.

Remote delivery of cardiovascular rehabilitation (CR) has been vital during the COVID pandemic when restrictions have been placed on face-to- face services. In the future, CR services are likely to offer alternatives to centre- based CR, including digital options. However, little is known about the digital access and confidence of CR service users, or their CR delivery preferences.

Background: Cardiovascular preventive strategies are guided by risk scores with unknown validity in cancer cohorts.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive performance of 7 established cardiovascular risk scores in cancer survivors from the UK Biobank.
Methods: The predictive performance of QRISK3, Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation 2 (SCORE2)/Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation for Older Persons (SCORE-OP), Framingham Risk Score, Pooled Cohort equations to Prevent Heart Failure (PCP-HF), CHARGE-AF, QStroke, and CHADS-VASc was calculated in participants with and without a history of cancer.

This paper highlights developments in diagnostic and nonsurgical local treatment modalities that have changed the management of early-stage lung cancer. These innovations aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy, minimize invasiveness, and improve patient outcomes. Liquid biopsies are emerging as promising tools for non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring, enabling earlier intervention without being standardized yet as well as not yet anchored in the guidelines.

Introduction: Not all patients experience debilitating symptoms during Atrial Fibrillation (AF), some are asymptomatic. The reasons for this inter- and intrasubject variability is unknown.
Purpose: The study objective was NOAH characterize episode-level and clinical characteristics associated with symptomatic versus asymptomatic episodes of AF in patients with an implantable cardiac monitor (ICM).

Disruption of processes involved in tissue development and homeostatic self-renewal is increasingly implicated in cancer initiation, progression, and recurrence. The adrenal cortex is a dynamic tissue that undergoes life-long turnover. Here, using genetic fate mapping and murine adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) models, we have identified a population of adrenocortical stem cells that express delta-like non-canonical Notch ligand 1 (DLK1).

Aortic regurgitation (AR) is a common clinical disease associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Investigations based largely on non-invasive imaging are pivotal in discerning the severity of disease and its impact on the heart. Advances in technology have contributed to improved risk stratification and to our understanding of the pathophysiology of AR.

Objective: To determine whether a lower serum potassium concentration trigger for supplementation is noninferior to a high-normal trigger.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This open-label, noninferiority, randomized clinical trial was conducted at 23 cardiac surgical centers in the United Kingdom and Germany.

Background: Delabelling pathways offer confirmatory diagnosis and can prevent unnecessary second-line therapies or drug desensitization procedures after chemotherapeutic hypersensitivity reactions (CHT-HSRs). However, these pathways rely on risky in vivo tests. Data on whether in vitro tests could be helpful are scarce.

Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and whole-exome sequencing (WES) are crucial within the context of breast cancer (BC) research. They play a role in the detection of predisposed genes, risk stratification, and identification of rare single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). These technologies aid in the discovery of associations between various syndromes and BC, understanding the tumour microenvironment (TME), and even identifying unknown mutations that could be useful in future for personalised treatments.

The management of acute myocarditis (AM) is addressed in multiple clinical guidelines. We systematically reviewed current guidelines developed by national and international medical organizations on the management of AM to aid clinical practice. Publications in MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane were identified between 1 January 2013 and 12 April 2024.

Background: Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is the primary tool for assessing left ventricular (LV) function in cardiogenic shock (CS). However, inadequate image quality often hinders it. In this retrospective study, we investigated factors associated with LV image quality in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with ischemic CS.
