Background: Decompression of odontogenic cysts is valuable in large cysts involving vital structures and cysts in pediatric and geriatric age-groups. The use of red rubber catheters, nasopharyngeal airways, intravenous tubing, nasal cannula tubing, and tuberculin syringes has been reported in catheterization of odontogenic cysts. These methods require some means of securing them to the tissues, like suturing or the use of screws.

Introduction: Sex determination plays an important role in forensics; several studies done using radiographs, model cast and animal teeth have shown that males possess larger tooth crown and more dentin than that of the females. As physical sectioning of tooth provides more accurate measurement of enamel thickness when compared with other methods, the present study was done to evaluate and compare enamel area (EA), coronal dentin area (CDA), bi-cervical diameter (BCD), average enamel thickness (AET) and dentinoenamel junction scallop area (DEJ-SA) in longitudinal ground sections of first premolars between males and females.
Materials And Methods: A total of 60 extracted first premolar teeth were used for the study, of which 30 were from male and 30 were from female.

Introduction: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts 94% of all malignant lesions in the oral cavity. In the assessment of OSCC, nowadays the WHO grading system has been followed widely but due to its subjectivity, investigators applied the sophisticated technique of computer-assisted image analysis in the grading of carcinoma in larynx, lungs, esophagus, and cervix to make it more objective.
Aims And Objectives: Access, analyze, and compare the cellular area (CA); cytoplasmic area (Cyt A); nuclear area (NA); nuclear perimeter (NP); nuclear form factor (NF); and nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio (N/C) of the cells in different grades of OSCC.

Context: Most of the adult population is colonized by Candida in their oral cavity. The process of colonization depends on several factors, including the interaction between Candida and salivary proteins. Therefore, salivary gland hypofunction may alter the oral microbiota and increase the risk for opportunistic infections, such as candidiasis.

Background: Sense of coherence (SOC) is an important psychological factor that enables people to cope with stressors and successfully maintain and improve health. Oral health affects general health and impacts quality of life. The aim of the present study is to assess the association between SOC and oral health status among 16 to 17-year-old preuniversity students in Virajpet, Karnataka, India.

Composite restorations are popular because of their superior esthetics and acceptable clinical performance. But shrinkage is still a drawback. Polymerization shrinkage results in volumetric contraction, leading to deformation of the cusps, microleakage, decrease of marginal adaptation, enamel micro-cracks and postoperative sensitivity.

Background And Objectives: The most caries-susceptible period of a permanent first molar tooth is the eruption phase, during which the enamel is not fully matured and it is usually difficult for the child to clean the erupting tooth surfaces. Sealing occlusal pits and fissures with resin-based pit and fissure sealants is a proven method to prevent occlusal caries. The difference in the viscosity of the sealants differs in the penetration into pit and fissures and abrasive wear resistance property due to the addition of filler particles.

Developmental disturbances of the tongue (aglossia, macroglossia, microglossia, and ankyloglossia) can adversely affect the development of the surrounding structures including the palate, alveolar process, and teeth. These developmental disturbances impair functions such as mastication, speech, and swallowing. Ankyloglossia is of various types and may be associated with other syndromic features like cleft palate.

The Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, also known as nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS), is an infrequent multisystemic disease inherited in a dominant autosomal way, which shows a high level of penetrance and variable expressiveness. It is characterized by odontogenic keratocysts in the jaw, multiple basal cell nevi carcinomas and skeletal abnormalities. This syndrome may be diagnosed early by a dentist by routine radiographic exams in the first decade of life, since the odontogenic keratocysts are usually one of the first manifestations of the syndrome.

Dentigerous cyst is the most prevalent type of odontogenic cyst and is associated with crown of an unerupted or a developing tooth and accounts more than 24% of jaw cysts. Here, we present an interesting case of dentigerous cyst in a 4-year-old boy, which developed around an unerupted maxillary first premolar. Histological examination revealed a cyst with 1-2-cell-thick epithelial lining and presence of inflammatory cells in the connective tissue.

β-Catenin acts as a structural protein at cell-cell adherens junctions and as a transcription activator mediating Wnt signal transduction. Altered β-catenin expression has been associated with loss of cell differentiation and acquisition of an invasive phenotype. In the present study, β-catenin expression was compared immunohistochemically between oral squamous cell carcinoma (30 cases) and verrucous carcinoma (30 cases), and correlated with different histological grades of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
