The study evaluated the antidiabetic potential of three traditional Indian red rice genotypes/RR (Kattuyanam/KA, Chennangi/CH & Karungkuruvai/KU) using a combination of in vitro, metabolomics (Quadrupole-Time of Flight-Liquid chromatography-Mass spectrometry/Q-TOF-LC-MS/MS) and in silico techniques. In terms of antihyperglycemic potential, KA exhibited the highest inhibitory activity against α-amylase; CH against α-glucosidase; and KU against DPPIV and PTP1B enzymes. KA exhibited the highest antioxidant activity (DPPH, FRAP, and ABTS) and greater inhibition of protein glycation compared to other RR indicating its potential to mitigate diabetic complications.

Microgreens are highly respiring produce characterized by a relatively short shelf-life. In this study, the efficacy of two types of macro-perforated packaging, PET clamshell (PET-CS) and LDPE self-seal bag (LDPE-SSB), was assessed on the postharvest quality and shelf life of radish (RaS) and roselle (HbS) microgreens stored at 5 °C. Pre-harvest spray treatment (AGSC) was compared with postharvest dip coating (AGDC) using gel (AG) for the first time in microgreens for postharvest quality improvement.

Cyclic β-(1→3),(1→6) glucans (CBGs) isolated from Bradyrhizobium japonicum bacteria are the periplasmic oligosaccharides having cyclic structures. This paper presents the isolation of CBGs from the bacteria cultured using optimized medium that improved yields to 350-450 mg per gram of cellular dry weight along with analytical interaction with lead(II) ions in the range 33.0-2.
