Tissue polarimetry has been gaining importance in extracting useful diagnostic information from the structural attributes of tissues, which vary in response to the tissue health status and hence find great potential in cancer diagnosis. However, the complexities associated with cancer make it challenging to isolate the characteristic changes as the tumor progresses using polarimetry. This study attempts to experimentally characterize the polarimetric behavior in colon cancer associated with various stages of development.

The 2022 International League Against Epilepsy Classification and Definition of Childhood Epilepsy Syndromes: An Update for Pediatricians.

The 2017 classification of the epilepsies of International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) defined three diagnostic levels, including seizure type, epilepsy type and epilepsy syndrome. Epilepsy syndromes have been recognized as distinct electroclinical entities well before the first ILAE classification of Epilepsies and Epilepsy Syndromes in 1985. A formally accepted classification of epilepsy syndromes was not available, and hence, the 2017-2021 Nosology and Definitions Task Force of ILAE was formulated.

Diabetes is often considered a vascular disease due to its impact on blood vessels, it is a complex condition with various metabolic and autoimmune factors involved. The microvascular complications can be analyzed using the Nailfold capillaroscopy, a non-invasive technique that allows for the visualization and analysis of capillaries in the proximal nailfold area.

A Case of Massive Gastrointestinal Bleeding Due to Abdominal Tuberculosis.

This case is about a complication of abdominal tuberculosis in the form of a massive lower gastrointestinal (GI) bleed, which was timely intervened by angioembolization. A young man in his mid-20s on empirical anti-tubercular therapy (ATT) for abdominal tuberculosis, presented with severe abdominal pain. The patient then developed frank per rectal bleeding, leading to a significant drop in hemoglobin level, requiring multiple blood transfusions.

Introduction: Recurrent adenotonsillitis (AT) commonly affects children and may be associated with various complications. Infections are common etiology, and microbial profiles may vary widely in different cases. In this study, we evaluated the bacterial profile and antibiotic sensitivity of pathogens identified in tonsil and adenoid core cultures in children with recurrent AT.

Detection and Estimation of Age of Injuries in Fresh Bodies Using Immunohistochemistry.

A cross-sectional study of the wound age estimation from the forensic skin wound samples was performed immunohistochemically with a sample size of 40 (n = 40). The samples were segregated according to the appropriate stages of wound healing with the help of hematoxylin-eosin staining. Later, they were subjected to immunohistochemistry staining with anti-AQP3 antibody.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of high-dose clonazepam (1 mg) versus low-dose clonazepam (0.5 mg) with cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) in older adults with moderately severe insomnia.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in patients who did not respond to low-dose clonazepam for insomnia secondary to chronic medical conditions.

Alcohol consumption coupled with advanced liver disease favours spontaneous bleeding. There have been only few documented cases of spontaneous muscle haematoma (SMH) in patients with cirrhosis.

Effects of vasicine in neuroinflammatory zebrafish model.

Chronic neuroinflammation produces cytotoxic effects and aggravates neurodegeneration. Cognitive impairment was considered an early symptom of many neurodegenerative diseases. Paclitaxel is a widely used cancer chemotherapeutic agent for many solid tumors; but peripheral neuropathy is a major limitation for its clinical use. Studies have demonstrated the usefulness of flavone derivatives in chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy. The present study evaluates the anti-neuropathic effect of 3', 4'-dihydroxyflavone on paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy and the underlying mechanisms.

The technical aspect required for the procurement of PRF includes revolution per minute (RPM), relative centrifugal force (RCF) or G-force, rotor radius, rotor angle, stability or vibration in the centrifugal machine and material of test-tube, besides the systemic health of the individual may influence the final outcome. Present technical note intends to compile these aspects for better understanding and appropriate outcome while preparing PRF in varying clinical scenarios.

Background: Scientific evidence suggests that yoga is beneficial for treating mental health disorders. To the best of our knowledge, minimal studies have been done on the development of a yoga module for the specific clinical aspects of depression and there is no particular study on yoga protocol development for mild depression and moderate depression.

Purpose: The primary aim of this study is to develop specific yoga protocol modules for treating patients affected with mild and moderate depression.
