Though it was once known that upregulated Cannabinoid Receptor (CB1) and downregulated Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH1) are associated with tumour aggressiveness and metastasis, it is now clear that upregulated CB1 levels more than a certain point cause accumulation of ceramide and directs cells to apoptosis. Hence, CB1 analogues/FAAH1 blockers are explored widely as anticancer drugs. There are reports on CB1-agonists and FAAH1-blockers separately, however, dual activities along with ovarian cancer-specific links are not established for any natural compound.

This article describes the process of developing CBC in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry under the initiative of Dental Council of India. Rationale behind CBC development is to bring uniform system of education for improving oral health outcomes of the society in long term.

Comparison of the effect of Morphine and Fentanyl in patients with acute coronary syndrome receiving Ticagrelor - The COMET (Comparison Morphine, Fentayl and Ticagrelor) randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) remains the cornerstone of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) management, and ticagrelor is one of the commonly used second antiplatelet agents. There is some evidence to suggest that morphine may reduce the antiplatelet effect of ticagrelor.

Methods And Results: In a single-center, randomized controlled trial, we compared the effect of morphine and fentanyl on platelet aggregation (PA) among patients with ACS treated with ticagrelor.

Impaired pupillary light reflex indices in Orbital Apex Syndrome - A rare case report.

Background: The clinical presentation of reduced pupillary responses in orbital apex syndrome is currently not well understood clinically. The pupillary light reflex (PLR) is determined using dynamic pupillometry.

Case Details: A newly diagnosed 35-year-old diabetic female patient had ocular symptoms including orbital pain and ptosis, but no visual loss.

Antenatal Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder in a Tertiary Hospital in South India.

Background: Antenatal depression is associated with several adverse maternal outcomes, perinatal outcomes, lower academic achievements in adolescence, and future mental health problems for the mothers. Early identification and effective treatment of depression in antenatal women can also improve perinatal outcomes.

Aim: This study aims to understand the prevalence of antenatal depression and anxiety disorder, along with associated factors, among antenatal women attending the outpatient clinic of the obstetrics department in a tertiary care hospital.

Background: Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), a type I transmembrane protein of the epithelial tissues and known cell adhesion molecule, has been demonstrated to have critical role in carcinogenesis. In breast cancer, EpCAM expression has been associated with poor prognosis. The expression pattern of EpCAM across molecular subtypes of breast carcinoma has been studied in patients reporting to a South Indian multispecialty tertiary care hospital.

Computerized dynamic pupillometry as a screening tool for evaluation of autonomic activity.

Objectives: Dynamic pupillometry is a simple screening tool for quantifying pupillary light reflex (PLR), to indicate autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity. Heart rate variability (HRV) is the gold standard method for assessing ANS effects on the heart. The present study aimed to compare ANS activity as measured using dynamic pupillometry (DP) with short term HRV in healthy volunteers.

Along with comorbid of either T2DM or HTN, treatment of depression may become an even bigger challenge. The present study aimed to observe the effect of sertraline in newly diagnosed depression patients with T2DM or HTN.

Development and validation of an integrated portable heart rate variability (HRV) analysis system - STREME.

In this paper, we introduce an integrated, portable, affordable and simple to use heart rate variability (HRV) analysis tool STREME. The system consists of an ECG acquisition device and software for HRV analysis. We assessed the reliability and validity of using STREME against the reference standards RMS VarioWin and Kubios HRV for the short term HRV analysis.

A Prospective Study on Prescription Pattern in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Irrational prescribing results produce a negative impact on health and economy of both individuals and society, leading to wastage of resources and widespread health hazards. Outpatients with mild, moderate, and severe COPD were included. Several parameters were noted: patient's age and gender, outpatient (OPD) ID number, date of admission, occupation, h/o smoking, alcohol consumption, etc, disease condition details (duration, gradation as mild, moderate and severe, and co-existing diseases), prescribed medication details (dose, frequency, route of administration, and duration).

Meta-analysis of association between il-6-174 g/c polymorphism and female infertility related disorders.

Female infertility continues to increase in prevalence annually and factors causing it need to be researched. As IL-6-174 G/C polymorphism is known to alter the plasma levels of IL-6, abnormal levels of IL-6 found in infertile females could be due to genetic reasons. With the understanding of the importance of IL-6 in reproductive physiology, several individual studies done so far to find the association of this polymorphism with female infertility related disorders were systematically combined for meta-analysis.

Prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: An observational study in South Indians.

Background And Aims: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) has a significant association with airflow obstruction and physical inactivity, which are the relevant extra-pulmonary markers of chronic obstructive respiratory disease (COPD). This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of MetS and its correlation with comorbidities and health related quality of life (HRQoL) in South Indian patients with COPD.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among the 76 COPD patients.

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and utility of bedside ultrasound (US) by neonatology residents to confirm position of umbilical venous catheter (UVC), umbilical arterial catheter (UAC), and peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC).

Methods: In this prospective study, we included neonates who required UVC, UAC or PICC insertion. Two neonatology residents performed all bedside US examinations after a short period of training.
