Several epidemiological studies have examined the respiratory consequences of occupational exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, their effects on paint industry workers in organised and unorganised occupational sectors vary. The present systematic review and meta-analysis aim at evaluating the respiratory symptoms and pulmonary function of paint industry workers from various occupational sectors exposed to VOCs.

The Isolation and Assessment of the Levels of Microbial Pathogens From Saliva, Hands, and Currency Notes.

Introduction Currencies such as coins and paper notes are always used for the purchase of products and services by the common man. These currencies are constantly being subjected to contamination and thus serve as a potential medium for the transfer of microbial pathogens. Thus, this study aims to establish public awareness of the proper handling of currency notes to prevent cross-contamination and the incidence of infectious diseases.

Rotations of teeth-a systematic review.

Background: Rotations are frequently evaluated through various assessment methods of crowding and arch dimension, with relatively few studies discussing the extent or direction of rotations and even fewer addressing the reliability of such assessments. This systematic review aims to comprehensively analyze existing classification systems for rotated teeth and assess rotation in anterior and posterior teeth, its clinical applicability, and its impact on retention and relapse.

Search Methods: Two investigators conducted a comprehensive search in six databases, namely, PubMed, Scopus, Ovid, LILACS, Web of Science, and Cochrane CENTRAL, up to 28 March 2024.

Liquid biopsies and exosomal ncRNA: Transforming pancreatic cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.

Pancreatic cancer is a highly fatal malignancy due to poor early detection rate and resistance to conventional therapies. This review examines the potential for liquid biopsy as a transformative technology to identify diagnostic and therapeutic targets in pancreatic cancer. Specifically, we explore emerging biomarkers such as exosomal non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), and circulating tumor cells (CTCs).

Methaemoglobinaemia in neonates with acute gastroenteritis: lethal, but curable.

Methaemoglobinaemia is a rare factor that can lead to cyanosis. The predominant cause of acquired methaemoglobinaemia is commonly attributed to anaesthetic agents. This case series presents three instances of acquired methaemoglobinaemia resulting from acute gastroenteritis caused by formula feeds.

Microbial flora surrounding orthodontic temporary skeletal anchorage devices: A systematic review.

Aim: The oral cavity harbours distinct microorganisms, which create a unique microenvironment. These microorganisms might trigger inflammatory reactions in the host, potentially leading to inflammation that can question the stability of temporary skeletal anchorage devices(TSADs). This study aimed to systematically review the literature on the type of microorganisms around TSADs.

Background: Ice massage is commonly employed in the management of non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes. However, there is a paucity of evidence regarding abdominal ice massage on blood glucose level (BGL) and cardiovascular function either in healthy or pathological conditions. Thus, this study was conducted to assess the effects of ice massage to the abdomen on BGL and cardiovascular functions in healthy individuals.

Proximal Tibial Fracture in Pseudo-Rheumatoid Synovial Chondromatosis: A Case Study.

Introduction: Progressive pseudorheumatoid dysplasia is an autosomal recessively inherited rare disorder with features of growth retardation, multiple joint deformities, and intra-articular loose bodies.

Case Report: This case study is about a 34-year-old man who presented to us following trauma to his right leg. On general assessment, he was short statured with multiple deformities of both upper and lower limbs with local signs suggestive of proximal tibial fracture over his right tibia.

The Journey of an Ankylosed Hip: A 20 Year Long-Term Follow-up of an Hip Arthrodesis using Cobra Plate - The Present Day Relevance.

Introduction: Hip fusion surgeries even though uncommon have shown good functional outcomes in patients and have its own advantages over arthroplasty.

Case Report: In this case report, we present a 62-year-old female, who underwent right hip arthrodesis using Cobra plate when she was 42 years, with a long-term 20 years follow-up, leading a functionally normal life, good patient satisfaction with acceptable quality of life.

Discussion: Although hip fusion can limit the patient's range of motion, it confers the advantage of better and stable fixation, pain relief, and advantage of future conversion to hip arthroplasty if done within accepted limits.

Evaluation of Timing of Implant Placement in Maxillary Esthetic Zone with Type I Extraction Sockets- A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: The present study aimed to evaluate the appropriate protocol to be followed in the maxillary esthetic zone involving single dental implants by comparing three implant placement protocols: immediate implant placement (IIP) with and without the socket shield technique (SST) and delayed implant placement (DIP) in terms of dynamic alterations in hard and soft tissues and patient-related outcome measures (PROMS).

Materials And Methods: A total of 75 patients were recruited for the study and randomly allocated to the SST, IIP, and DIP groups (25 each). They were subjected to Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) assessment pre-operatively, 6 and 12 months post-operatively to evaluate changes in Crestal Bone Thickness (CBT).

Background: Chronic pain poses a multifaceted and prevalent challenge that significantly affects an individual's quality of life. Sensory mechanisms, behavioural components (kinesiophobia and catastrophising), and social factors can influence pain perception in both younger and older populations. Moreover, the mechanisms underlying these altered pain phenotypes require further investigation in order to plan appropriate treatment.
