Patients with diminished renal function necessitate special care. In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), opioid analgesics should be prescribed based on the severity of renal insufficiency; this will determine treatment options at the beginning and throughout the management of pain in CKD patients. The dosage of hydrophilic drugs and drugs with active metabolites should be adjusted according to the severity of CKD, and the process of treatment should be monitored by modifying drug dosages as necessary for background and breakthrough pain.

Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A) deficiency is a type of fatty acid oxidation disorder in which long chain fatty acids cannot be transported into mitochondria for further processing and storage in our body. Typically, the patients present with lethargy, hypoglycemia, and raised serum transaminase levels before 2 years of age. Cholestatic jaundice as manifestation of this deficiency has been reported rarely; here, we report an adolescent male with CPT1A deficiency who developed prolonged cholestatic jaundice following a febrile illness.

Introduction: Although the incidence of cancer cervix has reduced in India during the last two decades, still most of the patients presenting in tertiary care centers are in advanced stages.

Material And Methods: At this center, we see 6% of cancer cervix cases every year, and most of these cases are in stage III and IVa. All these patients have squamous cell carcinoma and were treated with a combination of external and intracavitary radiotherapy along with concurrent cisplatin given once weekly.

A previously healthy six year old male child presented in pediatrics ICU in state of shock with history of fever and rashes and later was diagnosed as chicken pox. He developed right sided periorbital varicella gangrenosa which is a form of necrotizing fasciitis secondary to skin infection. Patient was treated with intravenous acyclovir, antibiotics, amphotericin B, extensive debridement and later reconstruction of upper eyelid with skin grafting.
