Aneurysms of the coronary arteries and abdominal aorta are extremely rare in infancy. Due to the rarity of the anomaly, there are no existing guidelines on management of these aneurysms. We describe the challenges in diagnosis, evaluation and management of an infantile Marfan with this rare presentation.

Background And Objectives: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has expedited the diagnostic process and unearthed many rare disorders in leukodystrophy (LD) and genetic leukoencephalopathy (gLE). Despite the progress in genomics, there is a paucity of data on the distribution of genetic white matter disorders (WMDs) and the diagnostic utility of NGS-based assays in a clinical setting. This study was initiated to explore the clinical, radiologic, and genetic spectrum of LD and gLE in the Indian population and also to estimate the diagnostic yield of clinical exome sequencing (CES).

Introduction: Permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI) in neonates is challenging with respect to indications, device selection, implantation technique, and long-term outcomes. Complex anatomy, the need for long-term pacing with high rates, and a problematic postoperative period are the major problems.
Methods: We prospectively followed up 22 newborns who underwent PPI below 28 days of life at our institute.

Hypomyelinating leukodystrophies (HLDs) are a heterogeneous group of white matter diseases characterized by permanent deficiency of myelin deposition in brain. MRI is instrumental in the diagnosis and recommending genetic analysis, and is especially useful as many patients have a considerable clinical overlap, with the primary presenting complains being global developmental delay with psychomotor regression. Hypomyelination is defined as deficient myelination on two successive MR scans, taken at least 6 months apart, one of which should have been obtained after 1 year of age.

Introduction: Vulnerable plaques have been shown to predict ipsilateral cerebral ischemic events and identifying them leads to appropriate secondary stroke prevention strategies. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of MR carotid plaque imaging in identifying plaque vulnerability when compared with histopathological findings in patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis who underwent carotid endarterectomy (CEA).
Methods: A prospective cohort of forty-five consecutive patients with moderate to severe symptomatic carotid stenosis who underwent CEA at a tertiary Indian hospital had 3 T MRI plaque imaging with multi-parametric protocol between November 2021 and December 2022.

Background And Objective: Imaging methodologies such as, computed tomography (CT) aid in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of patient-specific aneurysms. The radiological data is useful in understanding their location, shape, size, and disease progression. However, there are serious impediments in discerning the blood vessel wall thickness due to limitations in the current imaging modalities.

Introduction: Mannitol is widely used in neurosurgical units to mitigate raised intracranial pressure and cerebral edema, crucial in postoperative management. Its hyperosmolar properties reduce brain extracellular fluid, thereby altering cerebral perfusion and cardiac dynamics. However, the temporal and combined effects of mannitol on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular parameters remain inadequately explored in postoperative settings.

The actual risk of providing RhD-positive units to RhD-negative recipients remains debatable. There is no standard of care in the United States (US) to guide transfusion decisions regarding RhD type for patients with an unknown blood type, except for women of childbearing age and neonates. The risk of alloantibody formation by an RhD-negative patient exposed to RhD-positive blood is reported to be from 3% to 70%.

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology characterized by a large vessel vasculitis involving the aorta and its branches. Myocardial involvement is extremely unusual in TA and is mostly in the form of myocarditis, ventricular hypertrophy, and ventricular dysfunction secondary to coronary ischemia. Submitral aneurysms have been reported in TA and has been attributed to the chronic inflammatory process in TA.

Background: Patients undergoing surgical resection of brain tumors frequently exhibit a spectrum of hemodynamic fluctuations necessitating careful fluid management. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of dynamic predictors of fluid responsiveness, such as delta down (DD), aortic velocity time integral variability (VTIAoV), and superior vena cava collapsibility index (SVCCI), in patients undergoing neurosurgery for brain tumors.
Methods: In this prospective study, 30 patients scheduled to undergo elective neurosurgery for brain tumor resection were enrolled.

Background: The natural history of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) is variable and early diagnosis is crucial in order to positively impact the clinical course of aggressive DAVF. Artificial intelligence (AI) based techniques can be promising in this regard, and in this study, we used various deep neural network (DNN) architectures to determine whether DAVF could be reliably identified on susceptibility-weighted angiography images (SWAN).
Materials And Methods: A total of 3965 SWAN image slices from 30 digital subtraction angiographically proven DAVF patients and 4380 SWAN image slices from 40 age-matched patients with normal MRI findings as control group were included.

Metal and metal oxide nanoparticles are gaining immense attention among researchers owing to their admirable application potentials in various therapeutic events. Titanium dioxide (TiO) has been recognized as one of the leading candidates in this category and holds wide interest within the scientific community. Among the various morphological nanoforms of TiO, nanotube is grabbing remarkable attention as they have succeeded as an active vehicle in various medical procedures like intravascular stenting, drug delivery, as biosensors etc.

Designing stimuli-responsive drug delivery vehicles with higher drug loading capacity, sustained and targeted release of anti-cancer drugs and able to mitigate the shortcomings of traditional systems is need of hour. Herein, we designed stimuli-responsive, self-healable, and adhesive hydrogel through synergetic interaction between [Cho][Gly] (Choline-Glycine) and sodium alginate (SA). The hydrogel was formed as a result of non-covalent interaction between the components of the mixture forming the fibre kind morphology; confirmed through FTIR/computational analysis and SEM/AFM images.

Introduction: Approximately half of all stroke survivors have persistent upper extremity functional impairment, leading to reduced self-care, independence and quality of life. High-intensity, task-oriented virtual reality rehabilitation improves motor recovery. However, its clinical efficacy over standard rehabilitation remains uncertain.

Choroid plexus carcinomas (CPCs) are rare intraventricular lesions encountered in the pediatric population. The dreaded perioperative complication causing high mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing excision of CPC is massive intraoperative hemorrhage, which results in massive blood transfusion, and coagulopathy. Hence, the main crux of perioperative management is to tackle intraoperative hemorrhage and coagulopathy by instituting goal-directed blood transfusion guided by multimodality monitoring.

Background: The ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysm is the most frequent intra-cranial aneurysm treated at any neurosurgical department. These aneurysms arise from either the A1-A2-Acom artery junction or Acom artery. The surgical outcome depends on the age of the patient, time duration between ictus and surgery, and Hunt and Hess grade at admission.
