Background: Our aim was to study the additive effect of surgeon-administered adductor canal infiltration (SACI) over routine periarticular infiltration (PAI) on pain control [morphine consumption and pain score by the visual analog scale (VAS)] and early function [flexion and Timed Up and Go (TUG) test] post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: We prospectively randomized 60 patients into 2 groups. Group I patients received the standard PAI, whereas in Group II, the patients received a SACI in addition to the PAI.

Objectives: Patellofemoral instability (PFI) has multiple predisposing anatomic factors, including ligamentous hyperlaxity, coronal and axial malalignment, patella alta, trochlea dysplasia, excessive lateral patellar tilt, and excessive lateral Q vector. Yet, few studies have analyzed surgical thresholds for performing axial alignment corrective osteotomies in the treatment of PFI and patella maltracking. The objective of this systematic literature review was to determine if there is a threshold for axial plane alignment that triggers surgical correction for the treatment of patellar instability in the published literature.

Background: Whether there is a difference in harvesting the semitendinosus tendon alone (S) or in combination with the gracilis tendon (SG) for the recovery of knee flexor strength after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction remains inconclusive. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the recovery of knee flexor strength based on the autograft composition, S or SG autograft at 6, 12, and ≥ 24 months after ACL reconstruction.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines.

Objective: Comparison of knee flexor strength limb symmetry index (LSI) between the NordBord-test and the Biodex-test, and to determine the relationship between knee flexor strength and function in patients 2 and 5 years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL-R) with hamstring tendon (HT) autografts.
Design: Observational registry study.
Setting: Primary care.
Background: Falls are a major health problem. The relationship between dynamic balance related to falls and respiratory muscle strength related to sarcopenia and frailty is poorly understood.
Research Question: How do dynamic balance measures, such as maximal single step length test (MSL) and maximal double step length test (MDST), and respiratory muscle strength measures, such as maximal inspiratory (PImax) and maximal expiratory (PEmax), related to the requirement for long-term care or support in older people who live in the community?
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 39 older people (17 men, 22 women) aged ≥ 65 years community-dwelling who were certified as requiring long-term care or support under the Japanese system.

Common data elements (CDEs) for concussion, as established by international bodies, are not being widely used in Ontario, resulting in significant variability in the data being assessed and collected across clinics. CDEs support standardization of care as well as large-scale data sharing for high impact research. A collaborative network - - comprised of health care professionals, researchers, members from advocacy groups, and patients was formed to establish and implement CDEs for concussion care and research.

Background: The stress on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) induced by the quadriceps can be attenuated by activation of the hamstrings by exerting an opposing torque to the anterior translation of tibia. Consequently, considering the ratio between strength of the hamstrings-to-quadriceps (HQ-ratio) may be of value to reduce the odds of second ACL injuries. The objective was therefore to evaluate (1) the association between HQ-ratio and the occurrence of a second ACL injury in patients after ACL-reconstruction within 2 years of return to preinjury sport level and (2) to compare the HQ-ratio between males and females after ACL reconstruction.

This project establishes feasibility of inducing closed fractures in a donated cadaver. The study team made an identified Weber C ankle fracture in this donor, maintaining the soft tissue envelope surrounding the fracture, using minimal materials in a stepwise process that will be reproducible across educational programs regardless of access to highly specialized equipment.

Objective: We aimed to systematically review (1) whether knee flexor strength recovers after ACL reconstruction with HT autografts, and (2) whether it influences the association with a second ACL injury. A third aim was to summarize the methodology used to assess knee flexor strength.

Aims: The aim of this study was to establish consensus statements on the diagnosis, nonoperative management, and indications, if any, for medial patellofemoral complex (MPFC) repair in patients with patellar instability, using the modified Delphi approach.
Methods: A total of 60 surgeons from 11 countries were invited to develop consensus statements based on their expertise in this area. They were assigned to one of seven working groups defined by subtopics of interest within patellar instability.

Objectives: To investigate whether patient demographics and patient-reported outcomes (PROs), respectively, are associated with physical inactivity (PI) 5-8 years after primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).
Methods: This case control observational study included individuals who had undergone primary ACLR between the ages of 15 and 65 years and had responded to PROs 18 months postoperatively. These individuals were asked to answer a questionnaire regarding their present level of physical activity (PA) at 5-8 years after ACLR.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate differences in rehabilitation-specific outcomes between paediatric patients, adolescents and young adults within the first 2 years after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. A further aim was to determine whether patient age was associated with an increased risk of not achieving symmetrical muscle function within the first 2 years after ACL reconstruction.
