Background: Iatrogenic splenic injury (ISI) is a recognized complication in radical gastrectomy that may result in incidental splenectomy (IS). However, the predictors of such events remain largely unknown.
Methods: Medical records of the patients who underwent radical gastrectomy at our institution between January 2015 and December 2022 were retrospectively reviewed.

Purpose: When performing laparoscopic spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy (LSPDP), sometimes, anatomically challenging patients are encountered, where the pancreatic tail is deep in the splenic hilum. The purpose of this study was to discuss the experience with the surgical technique of leaving the deep pancreatic tail of the splenic hilum in these patients.
Methods: Eleven patients who underwent LSPDP with remnant pancreatic tails between November 2019 and August 2021 at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, Korea were included in the study.

Tumours of the spleen are uncommon, and most are metastases from primaries in other organs. Primary splenic malignancies are subdivided into two main groups: lymphoid and non-lymphoid. Primary splenic cystadenocarcinomas are extremely rare, and only reports of the mucinous variant exist.

Indications for combined colon surgery together with other procedures include oncologic multivisceral resections and abdominal trauma. It is unclear if combining minimally invasive (MI) colon surgery with unrelated other procedures increases the risk for complications. The surgical database from two institutions during a 10-year period was queried for combined colon surgeries together with other interventions.

Background: The value of splenectomy for body localization (≥ 5 cm from spleen hilum) of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (B-PDAC) is uncertain. This study assessed spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy (SPDP) results for B-PDAC.
Patients And Methods: This single-center study included patients who underwent SPDP (Warshaw's technique) or distal splenopancreactomy (DSP) for B-PDAC from 2008 to 2019.

We present an intriguing case involving a rare occurrence of sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT) in a 57-year-old woman with a history of granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). Despite the extensive literature on SANT, its pathogenesis remains elusive. The patient, diagnosed with serum anti-proteinase 3 antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (PR3-ANCA)-positive GPA seven years earlier, exhibited a splenic lesion during imaging, leading to laparoscopic splenectomy due to severe abdominal pain.

Background: This study aimed to compare postoperative complications in patients with esophagogastric variceal bleeding (EVB) who underwent laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization (LSPD) versus transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedures.
Methods: A retrospective collection of medical records was conducted from January 2014 to May 2020 at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The study included patients from the departments of trauma surgery, interventional radiology, and general surgery who were diagnosed with EVB caused by portal hypertension and treated with LSPD or TIPS.

For pancreatic neoplasms, the current clinical treatment strategy is mainly using standard surgical methods, including pancreaticoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy, and total pancreatectomy. Standard surgical methods require a larger resection, including resection of some surrounding organs and a large amount of pancreatic parenchyma. The endocrine and exocrine functions of the pancreas are easily damaged.

Purposes: The present study evaluated the impact of clinical guidelines for gastric cancer surgery on surgeons' choice of procedure in real-world practice. We focused on the 2014 guideline revision recommending laparoscopic surgery and the evidence concerning splenectomy for prophylactic lymphadenectomy reported in 2015 using the National Clinical Database, which is the most comprehensive database in Japan.
Methods: We investigated the monthly percentages of laparoscopic distal gastrectomies performed for stage I gastric cancer (LDG%) and splenectomies performed during total gastrectomy for advanced cancer (TGS%) between 2014 and 2017.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to establish whether laparoscopic RAMPS (L-RAMPS) is a safe procedure with better oncological outcomes compared to laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) with splenectomy among patients with distal pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
Methods: This is a retrospective study performed on consecutive patients who underwent L-RAMPS and LDP with splenectomy for resectable or borderline resectable PDAC of the body and tail. In this paper, we presented our technique of laparoscopic RAMPS and analyzed intraoperative and perioperative complications, oncological efficacy, and long-term survival.

Introduction: The determinants influencing the risk for complications of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomies (LDP) are not yet fully defined, thus we aimed to determine risk factors for serious perioperative morbidity after LDP with spleen preservation, LDP and radical antegrade modular pancreatosplenectomy for adenocarcinoma of the body and tail of the pancreas (RAMPS).

Material and methods: Retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients that underwent LDP between January 2019 and December 2022. The study group included cases of serious perioperative morbidity (III-V grades in Clavien-Dindo classification) during a 30-day period after operation.

A 59-year-old woman underwent simple abdominal total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, partial omentectomy, and extirpation of intrapelvic disseminated nodules for right fallopian tube cancer with rectal metastasis and peritoneal dissemination as primary debulking surgery(PDS). The histopathological diagnosis was high grade serous carcinoma( HGSC)of the right fallopian tube. After adjuvant chemotherapy with 4 courses of paclitaxel-carboplatin(TC), low anterior resection of the rectum for rectal metastasis and pelvic and para-aortic lymph node dissection were performed as interval debulking surgery(IDS).

Laparoscopic elective splenectomy is considered as a safe surgical treatment of spleen non-traumatic blood disorders. However, robotic assisted splenectomy is becoming a promising alternative, although there are scarce studies in pediatric patients. Our aim is to compare the effectiveness and associated costs of both procedures in children.

Purpose: Although laparoscopic splenectomy and azygoportal disconnection (LSD) can significantly decrease portal vein pressure and even the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with cirrhotic portal hypertension (CPH), postoperative HCC inevitably occurs in certain patients. The purpose of this study was to seek a novel preoperative non-invasive predictive indicator to predict the occurrence of postoperative HCC.
Patients And Methods: From April 2012 to April 2022, we collected clinical data of 178 hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related CPH patients.
