Leiomyoma, benign tumor generated by wall's smooth muscle proliferation, is extremely rare revealed. In our experience we only find one case, randomly discovered on the immediate examination of the bladder at the end of the laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The echographic exam may suggest sometimes the diagnosis but the presence of the stones makes it harder, especially when the bladder has scleroathrophic lesions.

Mini invasive approach, laparoscopic and endoscopic, represents these days a therapeutically standard in treatment of concomitant biliary stones: gallbladder and extrahepatic bile ducts. Had been suggested different procedures known as "rendez-vous" procedures. When choledocholithiasis is diagnosed or supposed, using biochemical and echographic criteria, we decided to make an ERCP just before laparoscopic cholecystectomy under the same anesthesia.

In cataractous older age group subjects, different blood constituents have the mean concentrations and standard deviations within normal limits but, of course, differing significantly from the corresponding means in the control population. Various morphological types of senile cataract have different risk factors. The mechanisms underlying the associations between different blood constituents with different patterns of lens opacification remain to be elucidated.

Gastroschisis is a severe congenital malformation of the abdominal wall, with relative low incidence. The authors are analysing different therapeutic methods, in a group of 17 cases, hospitalised and operated in Department of Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Hospital of Craiova. They are underlining the importance of the ultrasound prenatal diagnosis of the malformation, close related to different therapeutic methods applied in this period of time and also are advising secondary closure of the abdominal wall, using a synthetic material (Silo-bag) for temporary coverage of the intestine developed outside the peritoneal cavity.

Colorectal cancer has been identified as an appropriate candidate for early detection and treatment of both asymptomatic individuals and those at risk of the disease. The lifetime incidence of colorectal cancer among persons at average risk is sufficiently high to justify screening the general population. This review presents the latest strategies employed in early detection of the colorectal cancer.

The dysfunction of pulmonary capillary represents the marker of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Each current mean of investigation in ARDS (radiography, CT, ultrasonography, double dilution technique, electric impedance, bronchoscopy) has its downfalls and has not succeeded in becoming a gold standard in evaluation of this pathology. The development of any treatment is hampered by the lack of a rapid and objective method of evaluation of the progress of the disease.

The aim of this research is a clinical and technical comparative study, in fact between the posterior total or partial fundoplication and the anatomical procedures. In order to have a complete evaluation of the risks and results, the authors discuss the indications of each procedure, a series of specific intra and postoperative complications, including conversions and reinterventions, for each procedure.

Although lots of modern surgical and imaging techniques have been developed and last generation antibiotics are in use, the difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatic abscesses are still a rather sombre reality. Our research concerning 14 patients submitted to surgery within the last ten years can be thought of as a record, considering the poor number of cases in the last decades. So, our study also includes the possible clinical or imaging errors, the technical details of the surgery, the attitude towards the abscess cavity and the still obscure etiology in most of the cases.

The authors present the case of a 64 years woman with a choledochal cyst along with a complex malformation of both intra and extrahepatic bile ducts. The patient was admitted with a diagnosis of acute and underestimated cholecystitis, which was in fact a real acute severe suppurated angiocolitis located at the cystic cavity level along with severe hepato-renal failure. As long as the choledochal cyst evolves as a stand-alone entity, it can frequently be associated with other malformations of the bile ducts--such as choledochal duct stenosis or abnormal connection of the common hepatic duct with pancreatic ducts.

Being often biliary contaminated and suppurative, the hydatid hepatic cyst is in fact a real parasitic abscess. So far its surgical approach represents the only credible possibility of treatment. Authors impart their experience regarding the external drainage of the restant posthydatid cavity, by using a completely extraperitoneal way of bringing out the drain, by means of the round ligament, an original method conceived and put into practice by Prof.

The transomphalic and then the transligamentary extraperitoneal drainage imagined by D. Burlui and its multiple use in the liver and the biliary tract surgery, is well known. Concerning the hepatic hydatid cysts, the drainage of the remaining cavity by the round ligament way is possible for most of the locations of the parasite, but it is less performed in the right liver lateral segments locations, too far situated, and also in the left liver locations.

This paper presents the case of a 69 year old patient who has a benign retroperitoneal tumor (lipofibroma) presenting differential diagnosis problems (in special preoperative one, and intraoperative technique difficulties, revealing the fact that, in this case, paraclinical investigations have an orientative value, without offering etiologic information, and do not allow a clear preoperative strategy. Tumor resection was performed under an intraoperative histologically diagnosis of lipofibroma of the retroperitoneal region. Postoperative evolution was good.
