Diabetus mellitus is associated with numerous ocular complications. Diabetic keratopathy occurs in response to a neuropathy of the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve, but also as a result of epithelial subclinical abnormalities, limbal vasculopathy and decrease in tear production.
