Enhancing road performance and sustainability: A study on recycled porous warm mix asphalt.

The growing demand for sustainable infrastructure has increased interest in eco-friendly design solutions such as porous asphalt (PA) pavements, which manage stormwater runoff and mitigate urban heat islands, and warm mix asphalt (WMA), which reduces energy consumption and emissions during production. This study evaluates the mechanical and environmental performance of four warm mix porous asphalt (WPA) mixtures incorporating recycled materials and by-products: reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), aramid pulp fibres, and electric arc furnace (EAF) steel slag. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with a cradle-to-cradle approach was conducted to comprehensively assess environmental impacts.

While many high-throughput techniques have advanced plant biology, replicating the complex 3D organization and cellular environments of plant tissues remains a significant challenge. Traditional 2D culture systems fall short of capturing the necessary spatial context for accurate studies of cell behavior, gene expression, and tissue development.

Training and validating a treatment recommender with partial verification evidence.

Background: Current clinical decision support systems (DSS) are trained and validated on observational data from the clinic in which the DSS is going to be applied. This is problematic for treatments that have already been validated in a randomized clinical trial (RCT), but have not yet been introduced in any clinic. In this work, we report on a method for training and validating the DSS core before introduction to a clinic, using the RCT data themselves.

Introduction: Inotuzumab ozogamicin(InO) is indicated for the treatment of adults with relapsed or refractory(R/R) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This systematic literature review (CRD42022330496) assessed outcomes bybaseline characteristics for patients with R/R ALL treated with InO to identifywhich patients may benefit most.

Methods: In adherencewith PRISMA guidelines, searches were run in Embase and MEDLINE.

Talquetamab plus Teclistamab in Relapsed or Refractory Multiple Myeloma.

Background: Talquetamab (anti-G protein-coupled receptor family C group 5 member D) and teclistamab (anti-B-cell maturation antigen) are bispecific antibodies that activate T cells by targeting CD3 and that have been approved for the treatment of triple-class-exposed relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

Methods: We conducted a phase 1b-2 study of talquetamab plus teclistamab in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. In phase 1, we investigated five dose levels in a dose-escalation study.

Neoadjuvant Nivolumab Plus Ipilimumab Versus Chemotherapy in Resectable Lung Cancer.

Purpose: Neoadjuvant immune checkpoint blockade with nivolumab plus ipilimumab improves overall survival (OS) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); however, randomized data for resectable lung cancer are limited. We report results from the exploratory concurrently randomized nivolumab plus ipilimumab and chemotherapy arms of the international phase III CheckMate 816 trial.

Methods: Adults with stage IB-IIIA (American Joint Committee on Cancer seventh edition) resectable NSCLC received three cycles of nivolumab once every 2 weeks plus one cycle of ipilimumab or three cycles of chemotherapy (on day 1 or days 1 and 8 of each 3-week cycle) followed by surgery.

An Affective-Sexual Education Program for People With Moderate Intellectual Disabilities: Analysis of Its Effectiveness in the Spanish Context.

Introduction: Affective-sexual education is essential for all people, regardless of their intellectual capacity. However, people with intellectual disabilities, and especially those with conceptual, social, and practical limitations, may face additional challenges. In this study, we evaluate the effectiveness of the Saludiversex-M affective-sexual education program for people with moderate intellectual disabilities using a controlled trial design.

Prevalence of Crown Resorption in Amelogenesis Imperfecta due to Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Introduction: Junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB) is a rare genetic disease manifesting with skin and mucosal blistering. As part of the JEB, patients present with syndromic amelogenesis imperfecta (AI). Reports have described external crown resorption (ECR) in the teeth of patients with JEB, but its prevalence is unknown.

Mechanical Circulatory Support With Impella in High-Risk Patients With Chronic Total Occlusion and Complex Multivessel Disease.

Background: The therapeutic management of patients with multivessel disease and severe left ventricular dysfunction is complex and controversial.

Aims: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical outcomes and the changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction and at least one chronic total occlusion (CTO) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with hemodynamic support provided by Impella.

Methods: Retrospective, multicenter study enrolling patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction and severe coronary artery disease with at least one CTO who required percutaneous mechanical circulatory support with Impella, from January 2019 to December 2023.

Pomalidomide, Bortezomib, and Dexamethasone Versus Bortezomib and Dexamethasone in Relapsed or Refractory Multiple Myeloma: Final Survival and Subgroup Analyses From the OPTIMISMM Trial.

Introduction: In the OPTIMISMM trial, pomalidomide/bortezomib/dexamethasone (PVd) significantly prolonged median progression-free survival (PFS) versus bortezomib/dexamethasone (Vd) in lenalidomide-exposed relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). We report final overall survival (OS) and updated efficacy analyses.

Methods: Adults with RRMM who had 1-3 prior regimens, including lenalidomide (≥ 2 cycles), were assigned (1:1) to PVd or Vd.

The European Drug-Drug Interaction (EuroDDI) Study Protocol: A Cross-Country Comparison of Drug-Drug Interaction Prevalence in the Older Community-Dwelling Population.

Background: Drug-drug interactions (DDIs), highly prevalent amongst the elderly, can lead to avoidable medication-related harm. Cardiovascular and central nervous system (CNS) drugs are commonly implicated. To date, there is no consensus on how to measure DDIs, making comparisons across countries challenging.

Registries on transcatheter edge-to-edge repair in heart failure: Current evidence and future perspectives.

Aims: Secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) and tricuspid regurgitation (TR) are the most common valvular heart diseases in patients with heart failure (HF). Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) devices designed for treating MR and TR have been successfully tested in randomized controlled trials, but methodological issues have often challenged their interpretation. This manuscript aimed to provide an overview of TEER registries on SMR and TR in HF, highlighting their key features, describing clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients receiving these devices, and exploring the available data limitations.

Moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a debilitating disease that often requires biological therapy. Despite the effectiveness of approved doses, some patients experience partial or loss of response over time, leading to the need for dose intensification. This retrospective multicentre study aimed to identify predictors of biological therapy intensification in HS patients.

Purpose: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic immune-mediated progressive disease, causes dysphagia, food impaction, abdominal pain, vomiting, and heartburn. EoE requires long-term monitoring and can affect quality of life owing to its symptoms and associated emotional and social burden. This study aimed to understand patients' experiences with EoE.

There is, however, little room for improvement in simulating water with this strategy, whose main shortcoming is that water molecules do not change their interaction parameters in response to the local molecular landscape. In this work, we propose a novel modeling strategy that involves using two rigid non-polarizable models as states that water molecules can adopt depending on their molecular environment.

Non-canonical nucleic acid structures play significant roles in cellular processes through selective interactions with proteins. While both natural and artificial G-quadruplexes have been extensively studied, the functions of i-motifs remain less understood. This study investigates the artificial aptamer BV42, which binds strongly to influenza A virus hemagglutinin and unexpectedly retains its i-motif structure even at neutral pH.
