Most Mediterranean ecosystems have been profoundly shaped by wildfires, driving the evolution of plant species. Through photo interpretation and field inventories, this research assessed vegetation dynamics from 1984 to 2021, examining how fire severity and recurrence, key fire regime variables, influenced changes in structure and woody species diversity. Using two burn scars (1988 and 2006), we identified four scenarios dominated by Pinus pinea tree species: control (unburned), areas burned once (either in 1988 or 2006), and twice (in both 1988 and 2006).

This study investigates whether subclinical inflammation in asymptomatic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients leads to increased medication use. In a multicenter, retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with incidental ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease during colorectal cancer screening (2010-2021), medication use was compared with symptomatic patients and healthy non-IBD controls. Asymptomatic patients showed a higher use of cardiovascular, antiparasitic, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and sensory organ medications up to five years before diagnosis.

Prevention of unplanned extubation in neonatal patients: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Unplanned extubation (UPE), defined as accidental removal of the endotracheal tube during mechanical ventilation or its replacement due to suspected obstruction or inadequate diameter, is considered the fourth most common adverse event in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome (DIES), little known due to its recent description, is analogous to food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES).
