The epidemiological assessment of wine consumption usually has been obtained using self-reporting questionnaires. In this study, two metabolomic approaches, targeted and untargeted, were applied to 24-h urine samples from a cohort of La Rioja (Spain) (aged 52-78), comparing moderate and daily wine consumers (20 males and 13 females) without diet intervention, versus non-consumers (8 males and 35 females). Results showed that the non-targeted metabolomics approach has allowed for the annotation of sixteen compounds in 24-h urine samples from regular wine-consumers that were not detected in the urine of non-wine consumers.

Iatrogenic cerebral amyloid angiopathy, a disease caused by contact with neurosurgical material or human growth hormone contaminated by beta-amyloid peptide (Aβ), has a prion-like transmission mechanism. We present a series of three patients under 55 years of age who underwent cranial surgery. All of them developed multiple cerebral hemorrhages, transient focal neurological deficits, and/or cognitive impairment after 3-4 decades.

This longitudinal study explored the contribution of transcription skills, oral language abilities, and executive functions in kindergarten to written production in grade 1 among Spanish-speaking children (N = 191) through structural equation modeling (SEM). Three dimentions of written production were assessed, including productivity, quality, and syntactic complexity. Accordingly, three SEM models were tested to explore these relationships, and the estimated models for each endogenous variable demonstrated good fit.

Treatment of HIV has historically required taking daily oral antiretroviral therapy (ART). A recent alternative to daily oral ART is long-acting injectable ART with cabotegravir plus rilpivirine, administered monthly or every 2 months. The purpose of this qualitative study was to evaluate the concept relevance and interpretability of five previously developed questions: one treatment preference question and four questions designed to assess how the emotional burden associated with HIV treatment impacts treatment preferences.

Unsymmetrical bis-cyclometalated dicarboxylato complexes (-6-32)-[Pt(tpy)(OCR)] [tpy = cyclometalated 2-(-tolyl)pyridine, R = -Bu (), Me (), Ph (), CF ()], are obtained from the reaction of -[Pt(tpy)] with the appropriate PhI(OCR) reagent. Treatment of complexes of this type with different carboxylates (R'CO) results in the formation of mixed-carboxylato derivatives, namely (-6-43)-[Pt(tpy)(OCMe)(OCR')] [R' = -Bu (), CF (), Ph ()], (-6-34)-[Pt(tpy)(OCCF)(OCR')] [R' = -Bu (), Me (), Ph ()], and (-6-34)-[Pt(tpy)(OC--Bu)(OCMe)] (). Irradiation of - and - with UV light (365 nm) in MeCN gives 5-methyl-2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl pivalate (), 5-methyl-2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl acetate () or 5-methyl-2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl benzoate () as the major photoproduct from most complexes, resulting from a reductive C-O coupling between a tpy ligand and a carboxylato ligand.

This work introduces CAECENET, a new system capable of automatically retrieving columnar and vertically-resolved aerosol properties running the GRASP (Generalized Retrieval of Atmosphere and Surface Properties) algorithm using sun-sky photometer (aerosol optical depth, AOD; and sky radiance measurements) and ceilometer (range corrected signal; RCS) data as input. This method, so called GRASPpac, is implemented in CAECENET, which assimilates sun-sky photometers data from CÆLIS database and ceilometer data from ICENET database (Iberian Ceilometer Network). CAECENET allows for continuous and near-real-time monitoring of both vertical and columnar aerosol properties.

Various space occupying lesions can arise in the orbit, ranging from developmental anomalies to malignancies, and many of the diseases occurring in children are different from the pathologies in the adult population. As the clinical presentation is frequently nonspecific, radiologic evaluation is essential for lesion detection and characterization as well as patient management. While orbital masses may in some cases involve multiple compartments, a simple compartmental approach is the key for the diagnosis on imaging studies, and MRI is the modality of choice.

Schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar (BD) and major depression disorder (MDD) are severe psychiatric disorders that are challenging to treat, often leading to treatment resistance (TR). It is crucial to develop effective methods to identify and treat patients at risk of TR at an early stage in a personalized manner, considering their biological basis, their clinical and psychosocial characteristics. Effective translation of theoretical knowledge into clinical practice is essential for achieving this goal.

Insect herbivory has attracted enormous attention from researchers due to its effects on plant fitness. However, there remain questions such as what are the most important leaf traits that determine consumption levels, whether there are latitudinal gradients in herbivore pressure, or whether there are differences in susceptibility between hybrids and their parental species. In this work we address all these issues in two species of Mediterranean Quercus (Q.

This study aimed to evaluate differences in the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by peripheral blood neutrophils in healthy dogs, dogs with superficial pyoderma, and dogs with sterile neutrophilic dermatitis using the nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction test. Additionally, the study assessed the potential of the NBT reduction test as a diagnostic tool to differentiate between these clinical conditions. A total of 28 dogs were divided into three groups: healthy (n = 10), superficial pyoderma (n = 10), and sterile neutrophilic dermatitis (n = 8).

This study examines the global evolution of sow productivity, with a particular focus on Spain. The analysis is based on key performance metrics such as piglets weaned per sow per year (PWSY), prolificacy, and pre-weaning mortality, utilizing data from literature reviews, the InterPIG, and BDporc databases. Globally, significant advancements in genetic selection and management practices have led to productivity increases across major pig-producing countries, with notable improvements in prolificacy.
