Choline is vital in a variety of physiological processes that influence brain development, growth, and carcass characteristics in birds and mammals. In this study, we investigated the influence of graded supplemental choline chloride on growth performance, carcass quality, and liver characteristics in grow-finish pigs. Pigs (672 barrows and 588 gilts) were obtained from a commercial nursery facility at 8 weeks of age and assigned to treatment based on body weight and sex, with 21 same-sex pigs comprising a replicate pen.

The present study has evaluated different soybean genotypes to understand the salt and drought tolerance mechanisms based on physiological traits (photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, chlorophyll, and cell membrane stability), antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase), reactive oxygen species (HO and O ), osmolytes (glycine betaine, proline, and Na/K), plant water relations (relative water content, water potential, and solute potential) and expression of related genes (, , , , , , , and ). The experiment was conducted in a two-factorial arrangement using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with genotypes as one factor and salt, drought, and control treatments as the other factor. All physiological traits, relative water content, and water potential decreased significantly in all soybean genotypes due to individual and combined treatments of drought and salt stress, with significantly less decrease in soybean genotypes G4620RX, DM45X61, and NARC-21.

Background: While the mother knows best/preference performance hypothesis has been well tested in natural ecosystems, how these ecological principles differ in agroecosystems is less explored. In this study, we investigated the ovipositional preference and offspring performance of fall armyworm (FAW) across vegetative and reproductive stages of soybean.
Results: We examined trichomes, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and assessed electroantennogram (EAG) measurements to understand how olfactory responses are affected by volatiles at different phenological stages during photoperiodism (photophase and scotophase).

Soybeans are used for human consumption or animal feed due to their abundant protein content. In this study, visible-near infrared (VNIR) hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and short-wave infrared HSI combined with three-levels data fusion methods were employed to detect the protein content of soybean seeds, including measurement-level fusion, feature-level fusion, and decision-level fusion. Soybean peptide (SP) exhibits significant angiotensin-I-converting enzyme inhibitory (ACEI) activity, however, its strong bitterness restricts its use in food industry. This study aimed to reduce the bitterness of SP by natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES)-driven Maillard reaction (MR). Objectives: Evidence indicates that, in pediatric patients with parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis (PNAC), the use of a 100% fish oil lipid emulsion (FOLE) increased the likelihood of PNAC resolution and reduced the likelihood of liver transplantation compared with a 100% soybean oil lipid emulsion (SOLE). To evaluate the potential economic benefit, we conducted a cost-effectiveness analysis comparing FOLE with SOLE.

To reduce the content of non-network proteins in protein-based gels, a synergistic approach involving pH shift and D-galactose (DG) was developed herein to obtain elastic gels with dense networks. The results revealed that the combined effect of pH shift and DG promoted the formation of additional disulfide bonds and chemical bonds between molecules, resulting in a denser, and highly elastic gel network, which immobilized more aggregates, leading to a significant reduction in non-network protein content, and enhancing the functional properties of the gel. Moreover, non-network proteins primarily consisted of subunit A (mostly Glu and Asp), while the subunit B was the primary polypeptide forming the gel network.

The effect of partial replacement of cereals by increasing levels of almond hulls (AH) was tested in twenty-four lambs distributed into three dietary treatments: 1) diet without replacement of cereals with AH (0AH); 2) diet with replacement of cereals with 9% of AH (9AH); and 3) diet with replacement of cereals with 18% of AH (18AH). All diets included 40% dehydrated lucerne and 5% soybean oil.
