Due to their inability to biodegrade, petroleum-based plastics pose significant environmental challenges by disrupting aquatic, marine, and terrestrial ecosystems. Additionally, the widespread presence of microplastics and nanoplastics induces serious health risks for humans and animals. These pressing issues create an urgent need for designing and developing eco-friendly, biodegradable, renewable, and non-toxic plastic alternatives.

Wheat end-use quality is an important component of a wheat breeding program. Heat stress during grain filling impacts wheat quality traits, making it crucial to understand the genetic basis of wheat quality traits under post-anthesis heat stress. This study aimed to identify the genomic regions associated with wheat quality traits using genome-wide association studies (GWASs) and evaluate the prediction accuracy of different genomic selection (GS) models.

To begin formulating broiler diets on a digestible calcium (Ca) basis, robust Ca digestibility values for ingredients and factors affecting this digestibility are needed. This study had three main objectives: (1) determine the standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of Ca and phosphorus (P) for seven plant-based feed ingredients in broilers, (2) assess the impact of phytate source on SID Ca from limestone (LS), and (3) evaluate the effect of phytase on SID Ca and P for the different ingredients. Two experiments were conducted to satisfy these objectives.

We investigated the effect of feed deprivation for 45 days on the growth, immunity, and health of 0marron () initially fed for 110 days on various protein sources including fishmeal (FM), poultry by-product meal (PBM), black soldier fly meal (BSFM), soybean meal (SBM), lupin meal (LM), and tuna hydrolysate. The marron were weighed and sacrificed immediately after feeding stopped (day 0) and at days 15, 30, and 45 after the feed deprivation trial commenced. Total haemolymph count, differential haemocyte count, lysozyme activity, protease activity, total bacterial count in the digestive tract, and organosomatic indices were analysed.

Mild cognitive impairment is a diagnostic category marked by declines in memory and cognitive function that are less severe than those observed in Alzheimer's disease. Previous studies have indicated that individuals with mild cognitive impairment have an elevated risk of progressing to Alzheimer's disease. The hippocampus is well known to play pivotal roles in memory and cognitive functions.

Background: Use of health applications (apps) to support healthy lifestyles has intensified. Different app features may support effectiveness, including gamification defined as the use of game elements in a non-game situation. Whether health apps with gamification can impact behaviour change and cardiometabolic risk factors remains unknown.

Introduction: Crop rotation of tobacco with other crops could effectively break the negative impact of continuous tobacco cropping, but the mechanisms of intercropping system effects on tobacco, especially on the rhizosphere, are not clear.
Methods: In this study, we investigated the impact of intercropping system on the diversity and function of tobacco metabolites and microorganisms through metabolomic and metagenomic analyses of the tobacco rhizosphere microenvironment intercropped with maize and soybean.
Results: The results showed that the contents of huperzine b, chlorobenzene, and P-chlorophenylalanine in tobacco rhizosphere soils differed significantly among soybean-tobacco and maize-tobacco intercropping system.

The aim of the current study was to systematically review and quantify the findings of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effect of fermented soy products on anthropometric indices, body composition, and metabolic outcomes. PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched to identify the relevant articles from inception until March 2024. The weighted mean differences (WMD) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated as effect sizes and analyzed using the random-effects method.

Traditional colitis treatment strategies have issues such as side effects and poor lesion targeting. In this study, a milled black rice particle-stabilized Pickering emulsion (BR-5-DMN) has been developed as a delivery vehicle for 5-demethylnobiletin (5-DMN) to treat colitis. The alleviating effects of three 5-DMN delivery systems: BR-5-DMN, Tween 80 emulsion for upper gastrointestinal delivery, and soybean oil with most 5-DMN entering the colon were compared.

Background: Yogurt has emerged as an essential nutritional food in contemporary diets, and the development of new multi-component yogurt formulations has become a focal point of current research.
Objective: In this study, the effects of fermentation compounds and the addition of sugar, soy milk on the quality and probiotic activity of milk-soy mixed yogurt were studied to determine the optimal formation of mixed yogurt.
Methods: The various fermentation compounds (YO-MIX 883, Lactobacillus Casei complex starter cultures, Lactobacillus Paracasei compound starter cultures), different concentrations of milk-soy additions (0, 25, 50, 75, 100%) and sugar (2, 4, 6, 8%) were tested within each experimental group, and the pH, appropriate acidity, and total viable bacterial count of the fermented milk-soy mixed yogurt were determined throughout the fermentation and refrigeration processes.

Rapeseed ( L.) is a major agricultural crop with diverse applications, particularly in the production of seed oil for both culinary use and biodiesel. However, its photosynthetic efficiency, a pivotal determinant of yield, remains relatively low compared with other C plants such as rice and soybean, highlighting the necessity of identifying the genetic loci and genes regulating photosynthesis in rapeseed.

Tryptophan decarboxylase (TDC) belongs to a family of aromatic amino acid decarboxylases and catalyzes the conversion of tryptophan to tryptamine. It is the enzyme involved in the first step of melatonin (MT) biosynthesis and mediates several key functions in abiotic stress tolerance. In Oryza sativa under pesticide-induced stress, TDC function is unclear.

The precise control of browning and enhancement of Maillard reaction kinetics to improve the surface functionality and nutrient encapsulation efficiency of soy proteins remains a significant challenge. This research presents an ultrasound-assisted cyclic reaction method (1-7 cycles) to synthesize soy protein isolate/dextran (SPI/D) conjugates with enhanced grafting degree and functionality during the Maillard reaction. The technique significantly increased the grafting degree to 65.

The 26S proteasome is a crucial protease complex responsible for degrading specific proteins to maintain cellular function during salt stress. Previous studies have shown that GmRPN11d, a subunit of the regulatory particle in soybean, is upregulated in response to short-term salt stress. This research discovered that GmRPN11d is localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm, with its expression increasing under high salinity and other stress conditions.

Peroxidized lipids have been shown to reduce broiler performance whereupon it was theorized that dietary peroxide value (PV) plus anisidine value (AnV) may be predictive of broiler performance. In experiment (EXP) 1, 64 pens (8 broilers/pen) were fed diets containing 8 levels of peroxidized soybean oil (SO). Broilers were fed diets from 7 to 35 d of age with 8 replications per dietary treatment.
